April 28 is the International Day of Mourning for workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness as a result of work. In 2021, 178 workers died as a result of their job, with a 1/3 increase in occupational disease (the category that covers COVID deaths). This official statistic almost certainly underrepresents the actual toll. The Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA) conducted an online survey from to collect feedback from NASA members about how they are feeling about the U of A for Tomorrow (UAT) and Service Excellence Transformation (SET) restructuring and whether they have been impacted by the changes. The Non-Academic Staff Association is pleased to announce that NASA members have voted overwhelmingly to accept the settlement terms recommended by the mediator, with 94% voting yes to approve the agreement. Voter turnout was 50.4% of eligible voters.
