WINTER STORAGE & CONDENSATION Temperature fluctuations throughout the winter can create a lot of condensation in a typical garage with a concrete floor. SUNROOF LEAKS AND INSIDE OUT RUST With the heavy rain storms this month it is possible for water to overwhelm drain holes in your sun roof and body panels. All ...cars have numerous drain holes and channels for water to harmlessly escape otherwise your vehicle would quickly turn into a fish bowl. Unfortunately leaves and dirt can block these passageways. The rain water becomes trapped and can quickly promote rust in unprotected interior panels. The corrosion become supercharged if your car is winter driven and there is salt residue present. Almost as bad, water under the carpet area can rust the floor from the inside out as well as promote the growth of harmful mould. An annual RUST CHECK application is critical to protecting your investment from all sources of corrosion. Tip 1: Use compressed air (under 30 psi) to blow out sunroof drain tubes. Tip 2: It is also a good idea to lift your floor mats, especially if you have thick rubber ones for winter, feel if your carpets are damp. Do the trunk too. If they are wet, look under the car for rubber plugs, these are supposed to let out moisture, but they are often sealed shut, pry out edges to allow water to drain. Honda Canada recently issued a recall on the 2007 through 2011 model-year CR-V for a rusting problem that could result in a rear suspension control arm separating from the vehicle. The recall applies to vehicles in all provinces from Ontario east, which experience HEAVY ROAD SALT USAGE and humid operating environments. Dealers were instructed to inspect the rear frame stiffeners and to apply corrosion protection.
