The InSPIRE program is a unique in-class presentation that provides teachers and students from grades 6 12 with a new perspective on skilled trades and technology careers through engaging and thought-provoking activities. Presentations not only link classroom subjects and students’ passions with skilled trade and technology careers, they also provide useful resources to help with further exploration of career options. The workshop was conducted at Kwantlen Park Secondary earlier this month. A total of 50 ELL students participated in the session.

Looks like we have some snow in the forecast! Just a reminder about our procedures -- where & when to find information in the event of severe weather, and how the district makes decisions.

Last week, a group of ELL students and their families were treated to The Sound of Music stage performance at the Stanley Theatre in Vancouver. Prior to attending the event, the students had an opportunity to meet with professional teaching artists who work behind the scenes learning ways the stage can transform. Thanks to the Arts Club Theatre Company for such a fun and educational field trip. Everyone enjoyed the story and the live musical performance.

On Dec 6th, our Bridge students attended CBC/Radio-Canada's 33rd annual Open House & Food Bank day event in Vancouver. The students enjoyed watching live broadcasts, taking the tour of the newsroom, tv and radio studios, and meeting the CBC journalists. The students also brought items to donate to the Food Bank and learn how they could help support people in the community they live in. Thanks to CBC, particularly the Tour Coordinator Scott Van Denham, for accomodating our Bridge students and SD#36 ELL Welcome Centre staff.
