Now one day away, National Philanthropy Day reminds us of Surrey’s generous and compassionate spirit. Evident in the volunteer work, financial and in-kind donations that we have seen leading up to tomorrow, we believe that this date signifies a bright future for our community. We, however, still need your support as our community’s needs are abundant. Donating to our Smart and Caring Surrey Community Fund takes the guesswork out of your charitable giving. We make it easy wit...h online automated giving so donations can be made one time for National Philanthropy Day or they can be made recurring through monthly donations. Now is the time to donate; help us reach our goal of $75,000 for our Smart and Caring Surrey Community Fund by December 1st. Donate today at https://www.surreycares.org/smart-and-caring-surrey-communi. Thank you for your support. Safely enjoy your National Philanthropy Day celebrations tomorrow. #NationalPhilanthropyDay2020 #GivingisReceiving

We know firsthand how hard our community members work to serve vulnerable populations in Surrey. The impact of financial gifts, time spent volunteering and philanthropic action are deeply felt across our community and are what lead to lasting change. National Philanthropy Day allows us to celebrate your giving, volunteering and array of charitable engagement. As the acuity of organization’s and community members in need increases, we have set a goal to raise $75,000 for our S...mart and Caring Surrey Community Fund by December 1st. We are counting on your support; your gift is what will help us drive change in Surrey. The $75,000 itself will remain intact as an endowment and we will use the investment income to support a wide variety of general initiatives of charitable organizations, but we cannot do so without your support. No gift is too small! Learn more about this fund and make an impact by donating at https://www.surreycares.org/smart-and-caring-surrey-communi. Thank you for your support. Please continue to spread awareness about National Philanthropy Day on November 15th with your friends and family. #NationalPhilanthropyDay2020 #GivingisReceiving

As we near National Philanthropy Day, we asked one of our Board Director’s, Chris Drinovz, about how his beliefs align with SurreyCares’ philanthropic vision of a giving and connected community. In this interview, Chris contextualizes the impact of our granting process within our Board but also with the organizations we support. We greatly share his sentiments and believe you may, too. Learn more about Chris and SurreyCares at https://www.surreycares.org//in-conversation-and...-connectio. To donate is to act philanthropically. We urge you to give as generously as you can to our Smart and Caring Surrey Community Fund. This fund allows us to support causes you care about with flexibility as needs continue to arise. Donate now at https://www.surreycares.org/smart-and-caring-surrey-communi. #NationalPhilanthropyDay2020 #GivingisReceiving

We can all use this reminder, don't hesitate, if you see an opportunity to do something kind, just do it. Kindness is what makes a lot of adversities bearable. So act now and be kind. And remember to be kind to yourself too. #SurreyBC #givingconnectedcommunity

Let's help each other limit our in person interactions, limit our travel and follow public health protocols to protect our loved ones, neighbours and community. We know we can do this and we can stay connected at the same time. We hope you'll join us today for the Surrey Board of Trade NETWORKING @ NOON event. We're looking forward to talking about our work with the Surrey business community. We can make new connections while following health orders and protecting our community.

SurreyCares 07.10.2020

It was our pleasure to support the Surrey business community in making connections. The Surrey Board of Trade does a fabulous job hosting and moderating this new way of networking ensuring all who attend have an opportunity to both contribute and connect. Check it out.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, half of Canadians report a worsening of their mental health with one in ten saying it has worsened "a lot". It's time for all of us to do something life-affirming: as individuals, to take concrete actions in support of our own mental health, and to support friends and family who are struggling; as employers, to take steps towards putting in place employee wellness programs; as governments, to commit to establishing or scaling-up mental health services; and to look at what more can and must be done to make mental health care a reality for everyone.

The hard reality is that everyone has been touched by cancer in their lifetime. Patients often need help getting to and from life-saving cancer treatments. Donations of both time and money are needed to help keep up with the demand. Donations to the Surrey Community Relief Fund are helping Cloverdale Community Kitchen deliver nutritious meals and lift spirits for 70-90 of our friends and neighbours every week (many of them are seniors facing health and mobility challenges). Thank you! The need for services like meal preparation and delivery that help our vulnerable neighbours stay safe and healthy is increasing. If you have the means, please help by supporting the Surrey Community Relief Fund at https://www.surreycares.org/surrey-community-relief-fund

Happy National Philanthropy Day, Surrey! While Canadian’s give billions of dollars to charity every year, this number itself does not define philanthropy. The impact of your contributions in our community and across the globe, big and small, is what we celebrate on this day! We cannot stress enough how deeply your support is appreciated and how critically it is needed. Your gifts allow us to continue our work helping charitable organizations in Surrey and for that, we are und...eniably grateful! We hope that you continue to support us as we aim to reach our goal of raising $75,000 in donations for our Smart and Caring Surrey Community Fund by December 1st. By giving, you empower responsive grantmaking that supports a wide variety of projects assisting vulnerable populations now and into the future. We know that we can reach this goal with your support. Give today at https://www.surreycares.org/smart-and-caring-surrey-communi. If you are unable to donate, please share this post with your family and friends so that we can guarantee more vulnerable populations the resources they need in Surrey. #NationalPhilanthropyDay2020 #GivingisReceiving

Volunteering does more than boost your moodit also has effects on your physical well-being. Volunteers encounter greater longevity and less frequency of heart disease. Volunteers may be at a lower risk for memory loss, too. The social interaction can significantly reduce the progress of Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. If you or someone you know is looking for volunteer opportunities you might want to consider this one.
