Stories Are Contagious We want to hear from you! The COVID-19 pandemic is an historic event, dramatically altering the day-to-day life of everyone overnight. Even though we are all in this together, we all have a different story to tell and we want to hear yours. The Stories are Contagious project aims to capture this unique moment in time and document the stories of the people of Surrey in a fun, creative way, showcasing what a wonderful, diverse, resourceful, and resilient community we are. We will be sharing the stories on our website. So far we have received some amazing stories, photos, poetry. If you want to contribute, fill in the submission form or email your story to [email protected]

The Do’s and Don’ts of Creating Digital Content October 8, 7pm Free Moderated by Performing Arts Manager, Kent Gallie, this information session will feature three artists who will discuss the dos and don’ts of digital content creation. This free online session will be followed by a question and answer period with the artists. Artists: Robert Wilson (Hear and Now Productions) is a singer/songwriter who has worked as a touring artist, event consultant, technical director, production manager and technician for a virtual encyclopedia of live events and culture. Wilson has been the Production Manager of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival since 2006 and has had key roles in hundreds of Vancouver cultural events and is currently working with a number of arts presenters to support a transition to digital platforms for performance. Sophia Wolfe is a contemporary dance artist who also works in visual media including photography, film, and video art. Outside of dance performance, Sophia has a regular practice in documentation of live performance through video, video editing and photography. Sophia’s deep interest in integrating movement and film has led her to organize and curate F-O-R-M (Festival Of Recorded Movement) Adrienne Wong is Artistic Director of SpiderWebShow Performance, specializing in the intersection of live performance and digital technology and producing the Festival of Live Digital Art. Surrey Civic Theatres needs your help! 'Stories are Contagious' is a storytelling project we created to collect stories of the pandemic. Stories are the invisible thread that connect us all. And we all have a story to tell! Tell us about your experience of the pandemic. It can be a small story, a big story, funny, sadit is really up to you. When it comes to submissions, feel free to get creative! Write a story, record a story, submit a photograph, drawing, audio recording, ...letters, a diary excerpt, even a Tik Tok videothe only limit is your imagination! The Stories are Contagious project aims to capture this unique moment in time and document the stories of the people of Surrey in a fun, creative way, showcasing what a wonderful, diverse, resourceful, and resilient community we are. A selection of submissions will be curated and shared as part of Surrey Civic Theatres’ Culture Days initiative.
