Good morning everyone and happy Friday! We have greatly missed being at the football field this year more than ever. This makes the regular off-seasons seem not so bad. We miss the sideline BBQ’s, the banter, the on-field competition and we miss you all very much. It is with great sadness that we are announcing the official cancellation of the fall 2020 season.... After careful consideration and monitoring of the recent rise in COVID cases, coupled with the significant changes that would need to take place in order for any sort of game play to happen and the extend period of time we would need to make a season a reality, it is unfortunately not suitable for SFFL to continue this year. We sincerely wish that this season would have been able to happen and sincerely hope you will return with us as soon as we’re all able to play again. Planning for spring 2021 has already begun and we will update everyone once details have been hammered out. As always, we appreciate your continued support, your understanding and cooperation. The admin team at SFFL

***FALL SEASON UPDATE*** Good morning everyone and happy Friday!! We wanted to keep everyone up to date with what’s going on and where we’re at in this pandemic with regards to a re-start of flag football for the upcoming season. ... As of right now, we are at the mercy of ViaSport (the governing body of sport in B.C.) and the City of Surrey. Some of you might be seeing community organizations out on local fields, training, practicing and working out. This is being done with return to play plans that mandate social distancing and safe contact measures which include temperature testing, constant sanitization, face coverings and contact tracing. We, as Surrey Flag Football and for that matter, all flag football leagues, can not guarantee ZERO contact (including flagging) which goes against the provincial health guidelines. This means that we are in a holding patter and are waiting for ViaSport to allow close contact sports again. As a league, we have done everything we can and need to do to prepare for the start of the upcoming season. Everything is ready to go. Once we have the green light to start, we will be able to hit the ground running. Some leagues may be offering open registration already however, games would not be allowed to begin legally without the ok from the province. We’ve decided to not open registration until such time as we can guarantee game play. This avoids having to go through the refund process and any headaches that come along with trying to re-cancel a potential season. We hope everyone is doing well and is finding ways to cope with the lack of sports, the navigation of this pandemic and is enjoying their summer. We miss you all and can’t wait to get back out on the field soon. As soon as we have any further details regarding next steps, we will inform you all as soon as possible. Until then, be safe, have fun and please do what you can to stop the spread so we can all return to the game we love. ~ Admin

Over the past week, our local football community has been rocked by the unfortunate passing of three great men. Former Surrey Flag member, amazing father and husband, AJ Fawkes. AJ was always a pleasure to have around the field and was known for always supporting any fundraising event or helping out when needed. President of North Delta Minor Football, former coach and player at North Surrey Minor Football, VMFL game commissioner, loving father husband and community advocat...e, Mike Ettinger. Former UBC Thunderbird and Hugh Boyd football player, Kory Nagata. As a member of the local football community, we wish their families and their close friends our deepest condolences. May they Rest In Peace.

Hey everyone!! We hope you all are keeping safe and well. We are hopeful and anxious to get back on the field very soon as we are sure you are too! We are doing everything we can to make this a reality for the upcoming fall season. Unfortunately, this summer’s Rally Rai coed tournament has been officially cancelled due to the continued restrictions in place in the province of B.C. Here’s the latest update on what’s happening with sports returning in BC and to the city of Su...rrey. 1. We are currently working on a return to play plan, incorporating the guidelines set out by the province of B.C., the city of Surrey, ViaSport and are required to submit this to the city for approval. 2. Once this plan is approved and the city has officially allocated fields, team registration will open for our fall 2020 season for both men’s and coed. 3. Once team registration is complete, player waiver forms will be available to sign. There will be changes to the waiver form moving forward with regards to COVID-19 as well as new policies, procedures and player responsibilities. We advise that once they’re available, please take the time to read through carefully before signing. Again, we hope you all are doing well. We can’t wait to be back! We will provide further details and updates in the coming weeks. ~ Admin
