We are very excited to be collaborating with Dr. Sasha Blaskovich and the Whiplash & Injury Clinic - Langley in offering an Enhanced PoNS Program. This program will combine the effective PoNS Treatment protocol with Dr. Blaskovich’s dynamic motion imaging technology and hands on treatment to help individuals with MS or a traumatic brain injury regain functionality. Dynamic motion imaging will be utilized for clients who have a history of head and/or neck trauma in the past,... and continue to display vestibular-like symptoms, where conventional vestibular therapy has not been successful in symptom reduction or where conventional vestibular therapy has worsened symptoms. The postulated cause of the vestibular-like symptoms is often found in an unstable upper neck causing brain stem compression. Dynamic Motion Imaging is the best way to assess for an unstable upper neck instability. For more information, please visit: https://snpc.tech/services/pons-treatment/

Our research team has just published a new study which used brain vital signs to measure the effects of combining translingual neurostimulation (stimulating the brain through the tongue using the PoNS device) with cognitive training in a population of healthy individuals. 2 Key Takeaways: 1. Stimulation modulated attention and cognitive vigilance. This has potential implications for improving cognitive outcomes in neurological populations. More research is needed!... 2. Brain vital signs are sensitive to subtle changes in cognition. By looking at specific brain waves, we were able to detect changes in brain function that otherwise would not have been detected. You can read the study here: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles//fnhum.2020.00358/full These results provide objective physiological evidence that translingual neurostimulation paired with cognitive training was associated with subtle but significant changes in cognition, specifically, cognitive vigilance during language processing. Why is this significant? So far, most studies on tongue stimulation have primarily focused on physical improvements in balance and gait. Finding new ways to enhance neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to change) for better cognitive outcomes would fill a large gap in the rehabilitation world. HealthTech Connex Inc. Brain Canada

Today is Rowan's Law Day. Rowan Stringer was a high school rugby player from Ottawa, who passed away in 2013 after sustaining 3 concussions over 6 days while playing rugby. No one, including Rowan, her parents or her coaches, knew she had a concussion.... Rowan's Law requires all coaches and team trainers in all sports to review their sport organization's Concussion Code of Conduct each year prior to the start of the season to minimize the risk for concussions. The code includes education and awareness surrounding brain injuries, tools to identify concussions, concussion related policies, and training requirements for each team. #concussionawareness #mtbi
