The economic challenges associated with the health pandemic faced by many Canadians has exacerbated housing insecurity. Moreover, failing to address homelessness in the midst of a pandemic puts everyone at an increased risk due to the potential of additional community spread of the virus. To help overcome these challenges, we are moving forward with a number of new initiatives. We will invest $1 Billion to rapidly create 3000 permanent new units of affordable housing. Not only will this investment help address housing shortages, but will also create good jobs in construction across Canada.
