Katherine Graham became the first female CEO of a Fortune 500 company when she took the reins of Washington Post in 1972. This was after many years of being a publisher at the magazine. During her time in the position, she led the Post through the Watergate scandal and helped the Post play a major role in Nixon’s resignation. In 1997 she won a Pulitzer Prize for her autobiography, Personal History, where she discussed the struggles of being a female leader among other topic...s. During her life, she could count the Kennedys and the Reagans in her personal circle. Katherine was a powerhouse and showed that a female leader could easily do the same job as her male counterpart to society at that time.
