It’s a new day. A new week. And a new opportunity to show belief. There’s a lot clamoring for my attention today, but my # 1 priority is to believe in the human potential for greatness. Here is why. - I believe that each person is a uniquely valuable individual with distinct gifts and potential for greatness. As a coach I appreciate what is special in others and believe that every person is created to be magnificent in their own way. Believing in people’s potential for greatness always lifts my talent as a coach. What is one of your values?

When I was a kid, I never dreamed that I would grow up and become a leader and a coach. (In truth, back, then, when I was a kid, a coach was only found on the athletic field.) I am so thankful that the definition of coaching now includes a professional who helps all kinds of people reach their goals and dreams and potential, and even more importantly, that I get to be one. When you were younger, what were your dreams? www.susanvanduinencoaching.com

A while ago I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Dr Henry Cloud. I had also booked him to come as guest speaker to a Leadership Development Day. While I shared my song and dance on leadership, I was dying to ask Henry, What is ethics? At the appropriate moment, I sprang the question. To my surprise, Henry’s answer was succinct: Ethics is others. I thought, That’s it? Three small words! Later, as I let Henry’s wisdom sink in, the profound simplicity and comple...xity of his definition hit me. Being a leader and coaching leaders over the past years I have come to realize that leaders face ethical dilemmas every day, and it usually boils down to peoplemanaging stakeholders, employees, volunteers, customers/clients/guests, community members, etc. Every day leaders to some degree or other find themselves in the ethical arena. Dr. Henry Cloud is a psychologist, speaker and NY Times bestselling author. He works with leaders to build stronger organizations, and writes about human relationships and self-improvement. Three of my favorite books are by Dr Cloud are: Integrity how six essential qualities determine your success in business Boundaries for Leaders why some people get results and others don’t Necessary Endings this book will challenge you to put a stop to things that have been getting in your way for a long time What is a favorite book of yours’?
