I don’t know why I find grey such a calming colour but I do, and I love using this grey glaze on my functional work. I love here, when you look closely, how the bowl’s surface suggests fur or feathers. . Quite often I think of the objects I make as containers. Containing food and drink quite literally, but also containing some essence of the elements that shape them (earth, water, fire). They also act in my mind as a sort of conduit between the maker whose energy, and imagin...ation is embedded (or contained) within the object, and the person who handles, uses and ‘attends’ them. . Much of the functional work I am making these days is glazed with this sweet, calming grey. It is stripped down, quiet, simple and spacious. Though this won't include guest artists, our 9 members are excited to bring you their lat...est and greatest work - online and by appointment. Well Covid sure changed a lot, including the usual roll out of Empty Bowls at the (cancelled) Festival of the Maples in April. But we are happy to say that the bowls are now available at Riverguild Fine Crafts in Perth. So go have a visit (with your mask) and take one or two home with you!
