On behalf of the Kinette Club of Sutton, I would like to pause a moment to THANK the residents of Georgina for the incredible support this year during the Drive through Santa Claus Parade, held at the ROC last weekend. In partnership, the Town of Georgina and the Georgina Kinsmen did a fantastic job at making sure the Christmas and Holiday spirit was felt by all in attendance. Each year the Kinette Club of Sutton gathers food and monetary donations to give to the Georgina Com...munity Food Pantry. The Christmas 2020 food drive was our biggest success to date! We were so amazed at the generosity of others in a year when so many of our neighbours and loved ones may have been struggling, just to make ends meet. In addition to cash that can be spent on proteins and produce, we were able to deliver well over a ton of non-perishable food items and household supplies. I see it all the time on social media, warm sentiments and kind words about Georgina being 'a great place to live'. Our results this year, prove that to be so very true. Georgina is an amazing Community! Thank you to the Community for all the Food donations collected for the Georgina Food Pantry. Around 1600 lbs of food and $495 in cash was collected. Thank you to The Kinsmen of Georgina and all the volunteers for all your hard work in making the Drive Thru Parade happen. Amazing night had by all. The volunteers put in 9+ hours outside in the cold and it was so worth seeing all the amazing smiles. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Georgina! Be safe!

Note from Canada Blood...Enhanced wellness measures are in effect To help protect everyone who enters our doors - As of Monday, May 11, face masks have become a mandatory requirement while within our donor centres. You are welcome to bring your own mask, including homemade masks, or you can request one from our staff. We kindly ask that you do not remove your mask at any time during the donation process. You will still be provided with post-donation drinks and snacks and ask that you consume them outside the donor centres. - We’ve suspended pre-donation salty snacks. We encourage you to eat something salty prior to your appointment and drink 500 mL of water. This helps your blood volume and improves your donation experience. - You will be screened upon arrival which includes receiving a temperature check. Please refrain from drinking a hot beverage five to ten minutes before arriving to your appointment. - You will be asked to clean or sanitize your hands and maintain a two-metre distance from one another.

I am happy to report that the Keswick Presbyterian Church has set a date to donate blood. Unfortunately, there is still no date set for Uxbridge which is closer for Pefferlaw. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these difficult times. We usually provide updates for the next Blood donation clinics in and around Georgina. Blood.ca has sent the following message: "Mobile event venues are closed to the public currently so we are unable to host donation events at these locations. The mobile events have also been affected by the inability to maintain social distancing within the centres."
