Happy #winewednesday! It's Day 10 (but who is counting?) We arrive in Bodrum, gateway to the resort coast of Turkey. Bodrum is home to historically significant... Halicarnassus theatre built buy the Ancient Greeks and the Bodrum Castle built by the Romans in the 15th century that overlooks the harbour and the marina. Our crew will guide us along the coast, prepare our meals and share the history of the ancient waters. We are here to enjoy the Mediterranean climate, absorb history and sail the Aegean. In the afternoon we board our Turkish sailing vessel called a Gulet. This is a modern wooden sailing vessel with six cabins, a large deck and our home for the next three days. Our plan - only awesome! We will sail out to the islands in the Aegean where we will hike, taste wine, swim, and in the evenings, enjoy meals on the deck under the stars telling stories, singing and enjoying the fresh night air. Can you feel the vibe? Wind in your hair, salt water on your skin, the warm sun drying your back, a glass of wine at your fingertips? If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be . Maya Angelou Turkish baths, hot springs, healing waters of the ancient soi...ls are here! Pamukkale in Turkish means "cotton castle" as the surface shimmers with it's limestone smoothed over centuries and shaped to hold enough water to attract us. There are 17 hot springs with temperatures ranging from 35C to 100C (ouch that's too hot). It's a world heritage site along with Hieropolis, the ancient Greco-Roman holy city that sits above the springs quietly laughing as it is left alone. With bathers on, we will slip into the springs and let the stress of the past wash away, cascading down the white crystalline slopes, off our shoulders, off our backs, leaving us, disappearing into the warm streams that drain into the sea. Ah, renewal. To begin in this moment a journey of "re-new". New beginnings, new thoughts, new ideas and new appreciation for this adventure and for this amazing ancient place in which we find ourselves - in search of vine and wine and in search of ourselves.
