Every day is a great day to celebrate the amazing women in your life, but International Women's Day gives us an extra reason to do just that! Traditionally, we have been taught to be competitive with one another. As a sisterhood, we can at times be very unkind and judgemental of each other. As a woman, don’t be the reason another woman feels insecure! Instead, be the reason she feels seen, heard and supported. I have learned from so many women. I believe that each of our suc...cesses as women should be an inspiration to all of us. It is about faith and trust, passion and compassion, and about a deep intrinsic belief in women helping women to succeed to greatness. Be THAT GIRL! The one who tells a stranger that her hair looks amazing! Be THAT GIRL! The one who expresses empathy and understanding when a mother is struggling with parenting, and is tired and overwhelmed. Show love, not judgement. I read a news story about a young woman on a flight alone with a toddler and an infant. As the little ones fussed and cried, she was almost in tears herself attempting to cope with their needs. A woman reached out to her "You're doing a great job. Can I help you? May I hold the baby for a while?" And she reached across the aisle and soothed and rocked the little one as the mother regained her sense of equilibrium. Seemingly a small act, but one that made all the difference in the world. That young woman said afterwards that it was all she needed to restore her self-respect and belief in herself. Be THAT GIRL! The one who helps the women in your life see their goodness! Encourage other women to believe in themselves, offer kindness, lift up their confidence and self-esteem. "I am grateful to be a woman. I must have done something great in another life." - Maya Angelou #womensupportingwomen #internationalwomensday2021 #bethatgirl

Perfectly Imperfect. "Choose grace for you, choose grace for others. Every truth is kindness to yourself even if it makes others uncomfortable, every untruth is unkindness to yourself, even if it makes others comfortable." - Glennon Doyle . . .... . . #Family #abbotsford #growth #personaldevelopment #lifecoaching

Be A Good Girl and Other Fairytales When I was a child, the message I was given is that it was so important to be a good girl". The nuns taught this as if it was a religion within itself. My mother reiterated that message to me, along with good girls don’t wear make up or clothing that is in the least bit sexy. It is rather a paradox to me because my mother is a strong, intelligent woman who taught us to celebrate life, and she LIVED IT in a way that still teaches me tha...t to this day. Yet, I got the repeated message that bold opinions and strong feelings were not not lady like. I learned not to trust myself or be authentic. I think back on the childhood stories that mirror the fear that if you took your own path, you’d be attacked by a big bad wolf or a deadly prick of a poisoned spindle. Where are the childhood fairytales that taught that happiness and resilience are found in you? Where are the tales that depict that you don't need a Prince Charming to "complete" you? YOU ARE COMPLETE. Where were the tales and stories that taught us that relationships are not a contest for control, and rather an unfolding into each other where each can help the other to be who they authentically are? I wanted to be Cinderella and have that glass slipper placed on my foot and have it fit. I never gave a thought to what happened the next day for Cinderella. What was her life really like? I find it rather interesting that in almost all childhood fairytales the mother and daughter either don’t have any relationship at all or it’s deeply strained. Cinderella did not have a mother, only an evil stepmother ( perhaps this is where the persona and burden and pain for stepmothers started that somehow a stepmother's love will never be enough). The Little Mermaid's Ariel had no mother, Snow White had no mother, Rapunzel was motherless, in Beauty and the Beast, Belle had no mother and more recently, Disney's best seller Frozen again there is an absent mother. Where are the lessons and learnings from our mothers and grandmothers? Why are their voices invisible in these childhood stories? Where are the stories that show girls honouring their bodies, curiosity, hunger and ambition? . . . #disney #womenempoweringwomen #goodgirl

If you had to watch yourself work, would you hire yourself? Are you really a good fit for the position? Do you know how to articulate your goals and values? The interview panel is looking to get to know YOU. For many of us putting our most authentic selves forward for a job interview can be a daunting task and that's where interview coaching can help.

To Be Authentically You. How do we become authentic? How do we take off the metaphorical masks that we have created so that we can be approved of by others? I look back in my own life and I’m thankful I have always felt light within me. In fact, I was called Sparkle Plenty as a child. But that light was often dimmed by trying to be the version of me that I thought others needed. I have five incredible sisters who have all been my teachers. We loved each other while competing... for our mother's love. I felt like I both belonged and didn’t belong at the same time. It was like I had a secret that if they knew the real me, the free-spirited wild Suzanne that rarely showed her existence, what would they really think of me? Would I be loved in my authenticity? LOVE ME SEE ME! As far back as I can remember I liked sparkly, pretty things, I liked to be active and was very drawn to sports. In this way, I was quite different from my sisters. One of my sisters once said to me "I’ll know when you feel better about yourself when you stop wearing makeup. I remember internalizing her words and thinking somehow I was bad or lesser because I enjoyed putting make-up on and liked a different style of clothing than most of my sisters. Years later she phoned me out of the blue and said I remember saying this to you and I am sorry, you are who you are and you can do what you want. Wearing makeup or not wearing makeup does not make you more secure or insecure, it’s what’s going on in the inside. You can be caged up inside while wearing Birkenstocks or free and brave in spiked heels! What does it matter everyone's journey is different. Her words meant so much to me. I felt seen. Perhaps the place of authenticity begins when you practice non-judgement of yourself and others. It does not matter whether somebody wears make up or doesn’t wear make up, or what clothing style they choose. Why are we even judging these things? Not only do we need to stop judging ourselves, we need to stop judging others for who they are. To truly be a "good girl" you need to be authentic and to allow others that same grace, too. Let us be the person who brings people back to their authenticity.... by living our own ..as Glennon Doyle said let us bring Grace to ourselves and grace to others.

Service to others is the rent that you pay for living on the planet. - Muhammad Ali How do you find meaning? Meaning can often be found in heartbreak when we can take our empathy and use it in service of others who are deeply struggling.... For myself and a group of amazing soul sisters we share a bond that is forged amongst people who are united in the same healing work. The Gift Of Love committee has chosen to live their empathy by supporting the over 818 children in our Province that are terminally ill. We cannot fix everything, but that does not stop us from doing what we can. We can be part of the solution of lessening the suffering and showing support ..JOIN US Gift Of Love Virtual Gala Typically held at the Abbotsford Centre, this year’s event will take place virtually on Saturday, February 27 at 8pm PST. Attendees will be granted access to an exclusive online auction and treated to a compelling and engaging 1-hour virtual program that will feature many special guests, entertainment, and a powerful speech by a Canuck Place family. Your support is needed now more than ever. 46% of Canuck Place children and families reside in the Fraser Valley and receive care through our Abbotsford location.Their diseases and conditions do not stop in a pandemic. Why our families need your support now: Social isolation has limited much of the formal and informal support families rely on every day to cope. Siblings have expressed their increased anxiety and worry about the safety of their loved ones. For grieving families, isolation, uncertainty, and the frailty of life, is already a familiar part of their journey and has increased in intensity. In order to continue providing critical care for vulnerable families across the province, we need your support. Registration is by donation and you’ll receive a full tax receipt for your generous gift. Gather your household and register now to join us from the comfort of your home on February 27. Why should they hire you? Whether you are ready to change career direction, find a new job, or need to prepare for your next job interview, I can help. Never done a behavioural interview before? Behavioural interview questions are typically asked at job interviews to gauge how successful you are at problem solving. These questions can provide the interviewer with insight into your personality, skills and abilities. Because each behavioural interview question requires you to... share a specific story that highlights your strengths and skills, thoughtful preparation can help you feel confident and prepared. Unlike traditional interview questions, behaviour job interview techniques look for concrete examples of skills and experiences that relate to the position. Your answers to these questions should provide a brief story that illustrates your skills and strengths as an employee. I will help you create anecdotes, providing the interviewer with a digestible but compelling narrative of what you are all about and why they should hire you.
