Welp, Broken Pencil announced their #bpdeathmatch contenders and looks like I didn't quite make the cut. Ah well, so it goes. If you want my opinion, I say go vote for @shan_doodles

THE JIST: flood my DMs with faces you find interesting THE CONTEXT: Faces are both a spot of pride and a source of anxiety for me in my drawing. There are certain types that are almost the easiest thing there is for me to draw (old, white, grumpy men w/ facial hair), others which I really struggle with (young women, especially women of colour; thicker faces; anyone who doesn't have like 15 distinguishing features), and still other parts of just general face drawing which vex ...me to no end in my comics (consistency; likenesses; angles that aren't front on or profile). THE PITCH: This is the year I get confident in drawing faces, and I'd like your help. I'm gonna make a series of drawing different faces, and I'd super appreciate if you all would send me some. It can be a film still, a photograph of a real person, even a selfie (just be prepared that I'm currently pretty crap at likenesses, so there's no guarantees how accurate any of these will be). I'll try to do a few of these a week and, inspired by @fareldal 's impressive daily illos, I'll be selling each and every one of them for $20 (+shipping outside of Canada). That's also cheaper than my commission rates, so if your OC just happens to look like Robert Pattinson, that's a good way to get that sucker drawn. This first one is Charlie from Perks of Being a Wallflower, and is on sale for $20 from svencomics.ca/shop (or just message me). Anywho, hit me with those DMs (or shoot me an email at sven[at]svencomics.ca) THE FINE PRINT: As I said, I'll draw just about any face you send me, but like, be chill about it. If I think something's too yikes, I won't draw it. Also, don't send me your friend's face (or any other private individual) unless you can also prove you have their permission. Lastly, shoutout to @sambraithwraith who's been doing a similar project for a while and was one of the inspirations for my doing this. My drawings will not be as good as hers.

Tl;dr the long-extended Christmas Art Appeal is closing on January 31, and because we didn't *quite* hit my fundraising estimate, all proceeds will go to @sanctuaryto Thanks so much to everyone who's supported this appeal so far! I'm pleased with the support I've seen, but as it stands, it looks like my plan to divide the proceeds four ways was a bit over-optimistic, so I've decided to instead to donate the full amount of proceeds to Sanctuary Toronto. That being said, I ap...preciate that some people may prefer the proceeds from their purchase go towards one of the other organizations, for any number of reasons. If that is the case for you, please feel free to contact me on or before January 31 and I can make that happen. The appeal wil be closing on January 31, 2021 (so if you still want to contribute, you've still got a little time)

And here's my second piece from The Spectatorial Vol. VIII! This one accompanied Callum Hutchinson's (@callum13117 ) "The Land Beyond the Gate," and includes trees, which is always a vibe for me. Again, thanks to @arbardhi for art directing.

At last! I can finally start showing off some of the many pieces I've made for secret projects over the past few months. This week's jailbreak is thanks to the launch of the Spectatorial's eighth volume today (well, yesterday. Y'all know I'm bad with posting on time)! This piece accompanies Cameron Scott's poem, "The Devil in Iron." Thanks to art editor @arbardhi for coordinating this spooooky enterprise.
