On the morning of December 6, 1917, a French cargo ship collided with the SS Imo in the Halifax Harbour. A fire on board ignited the cargo, causing a massive ex...plosion that killed more than 2,000 and devastated the Richmond district of Halifax. The Halifax, Canada, Halifax Explosion Remembrance Book, 1917-1918 is the first truly definitive listing for those killed in the disaster. This searchable database has detailed information for more than 1900 casualties - more than 300 of whom were recently-confirmed and identified. Were any of your ancestors involved in the disaster? Christmas is a coming and the St. Vital Museum has the ideal stocking stuffer: a 2021 calendar chock full of historical photos, including the 1910 60th annivers...ary of Andre Nault. In case you didn’t know, Nault was the man who started Manitoba’s journey to becoming a province when, in 1869, he had cousin Louis Riel stop Canadian surveyors. The calendars may be ordered online at svhs.ca and will be available for pick up at the St. Vital Museum Saturdays beginning Dec. 5 between 10am and 4pm. Due the Provincial Health Regulations, the museum is closed to visitors, but not for calendar pickups. Someone will be at the door, but if not, simply ring the doorbell and someone will be more than happy to fill your order. Exact change would be appreciated. NO ENTRY to the museum will be allowed. Calendar cost is $3 each three for $5. For mail and online orders, please add $3. Calendar orders may be dropped through the mail slot at 600 St. Mary’s See more

From August 8 to November 11, 1918, the Canadian Corps and Allied forces pushed the Germany army from France and through Belgium to Mons. This drive, known as "...Canada's Hundred Days", resulted in a series of battles that ended in German surrender and the end of WWI. Did any of your ancestors participate in the offensive? https://bit.ly/3krwW2D

80 years ago in the Battle of Britain, members of the Royal Canadian Air Force No. 1 Squadron fought alongside our allies against Nazi Germany. Victory was attained but many lives were lost. Please take a moment today to remember. #BattleOfBritain80 #LestWeForget
