We hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend and able to spend some free time on Model Railroading. We want to make sure that everyone knows that as a result of Covid 19 our annual Bowamville Train Show is cancelled for 2020. We look forward to hosting another show when it is possible. Stay safe everyone!

Any locals who remember this caboose from its days in Newtonville? Nice to see it’s found a great new home with TTC gauge trucks and HCRR.

We also hope to be able to host our Bowmanville Model Train Show in October, as of right now we are in a wait and see mode. No applications have been sent out yet as we are unsure of the venue restrictions. All our future shows and flea markets will be held at the Garnett B. Rickard Centre, not at the usual High School. The new venue is smaller but will allow us to host a show on both Saturday and Sunday. ... We are looking forward to Participating in the Whitby Pine Ridge show, hopefully it will go ahead as planned.

On June 9, 1977, the Ontario Northland Railway began operating two of four used Trans-Europ-Express (TEE) train sets, bought from the Swiss and Dutch railways. ...The ONR called the trains the Northlander and ran them in daytime service between Toronto and Timmins. The train sets had a diesel unit, coach, meal service car and a car containing seven compartmentseach seating 6and the end control cab. Along with the daily overnight "Northland" providing full sleeping car service, the new Northlander gave ONR patrons the best passenger train service they had seen in years. The former TEE diesel units performed poorly and were retired in 1980 and then scrapped in 1984. They were replaced with Canadian-built GMD FP7 diesel locomotives. The remaining TEE cars continued in service on the Northlander until February, 1992, when they were replaced with newly rebuilt former GO Transit single-level cars. The Northlander was ultimately cancelled by the Ontario government in 2012.
