Remember a few weeks ago we posted our most used core exercise? Here we are using some external tools to help remind Amanda to focus on not rotating her pelvis as she slides the sandbag across. Another great cue is to imagine a glass of water on your back, brace your trunk before you lift your hand to move the sandbag to prevent any movement in your hips.

You don’t only have to do chin-ups and pull-ups. Here Mats is training bar play, which is essentially moving his body through space in different angles that work all the muscles of a pull-up but with a much harder degree of control. His grip, forearms, mid and upper back, biceps and to a degree his pushing muscles also all come into play doing this movement. Adding variety to your bar training once you are advanced enough keeps things fresh, and adds intensity and the mental concentration to the exercise without adding load.
