SWAM Montreal 01.02.2021

Swimming has always been a big part of my life as has being involved in my community. The McGill community, though great, can be a bit overwhelming and stressful at times and feel homogenous due to it mostly consisting of students. Over the last four years SWAM has given me the opportunity to expand my network by being part of a diverse community of swimmers, students, parents and many other individuals. Being able to do something that is outside the McGill bubble and cont...ext of school has helped me to maintain balance and perspective in my life, it’s also been a greater destressor! I am so grateful I got involved with SWAM at the start of university, it's really added to my last four years in Montreal and as my time volunteering comes to an end, I cannot emphasis enough the important service this organization provides and encourage everyone to get involved! -Gwenyth Wrenyth, U3 Honours Environment and Sustainability

Joining SWAM this year has been an amazing experience! As a first year, it was so awesome to become a part of a community of people from all over McGill. It’s been really inspiring to work with such a dedicated team every Sunday, and I’ve gotten to meet so many people with similar interests to myself. It’s also been so much fun to get to work with the kids every week, and to help build their confidence and ability in the water. SWAM has been such a big part of my first year here at McGill, and I’m so excited to continue with the program - Michaela Bloor, U0 Cognitive Science
