SWANA Pacific Chapter YPs are excited to host our zoom session #4: Speed Mentoring Wednesday, November 18 from 4:00 PM 5:00 PM PST. Participants will have an opportunity to speak to 3 solid waste experts, Heidi Gerlach (Dillon Consulting), a waste management policy and public sector expert; Scott Hoekstra (City of Kelowna), a landfill management and contaminated soil remediation expert and Karen Storry (Metro Vancouver), a circular economy & reuse, repurpose and recycle e...xpert. This event will feature breakout rooms where the YPs will join Heidi, Scott and Karen and be mentored in small groups. Registration is limited to 14 people. ***Application deadline extended to Monday, October 26*** Due to the COVID-19 safety precautions at post-secondary institutions, we have extended the Stuart Sommerville Scholarship application deadline to Monday, October 26. #students #environmental #universities #highereducation #education... SWANA Pacific BC & Yukon Chapter is pleased to once again offer a number of scholarship awards to encourage students studying in disciples related to solid waste management at British Columbia or Yukon universities or colleges. During this time, numerous awards totalling over $60,000 have been provided to students in post-secondary institutions. While any student in programs relevant to solid waste management or environmental protection are eligible for these awards, special consideration will be given to applicants who are also members of SWANA or are immediate relatives of a SWANA Pacific BC & Yukon Chapter member. The scholarships, sponsored by Ecowaste Industries Ltd, are in memory of Stuart Sommerville who was an active member of SWANA and particularly the Pacific Chapter. An application form and list of eligibility criteria is available on the Chapter website. Please note that applications must be submitted on or before October 26, 2020.
