Botox to Treat TMJ Disorder? Many people suffer from TMJ disorders. It can be especially heightened during stress, as bruxism increases. Clenching and grinding can cause jaw pain, headaches, and tooth sensitivity. The first line of defense is a traditional night guard, but it doesn't work for everyone. ... One method of treatment that works very well is Botox therapy. When injected into the masseter muscle, it will reduce its parafunctional behavior. Over several treatments, it can result in longterm, significant improvement of symptoms. The goal is to ultimately correct the habit so you are no longer clenching and grinding, which would alleviate the disorder and the associated pain. This video summarizes what Botox is able to do for TMJ pain. Are you suffering from TMJ pain and want to see if botox treatment is right for you? For all our new parents out there, it is important to start bringing the new babies in early for their first dental visits, and to come regularly. Current recommendations are within 6 months of the first tooth erupting, then every 6 months. Helps us spot abnormalities, and to get them used to the dental office, to prevent anxiety later on. We like our first visits to be fun, and not to treat a bad toothache. Easiest thing? Just bring them with you for your checkups, and we'll check them out too. http://www.cda-adc.ca//dental_care_children/first_visit.asp
