Due to the current health concerns in regards to the rapid spread of Covid-19, we have decided to cancel our March 2020 meeting. We want to thank everyone for their support of & interest in SWAN, and we hope to resume our regularly scheduled meetings in April. More information about that meeting will be posted closer to April 21st.

Happy International Women's Day! Today we celebrate all the women who came before us, who worked for and fought for everything women have now. Who not only helped each other, but generations to come. Strong Women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.

Our goal for this year is to continue to help support women in business through networking, education, and mentorship opportunities, and our community by continuing to host charitable fundraising events & donate back to our fellow Bradfordians. Important announcement for those donating clothing: We just received word that A Hand Up's last day to donate clothes directly in 2019 is going to be this TUESDAY, Nov 26th from 1-3 PM. They will re-open to direct clothing donations in Jan 2020. If you're looking to donate clothes in the meantime, you can arrange to drop off with Drive True Automotive - Bradford, or reach out to SWAN and a member can make arrangements for drop off.

We had a FANTASTIC last meeting of the year last night! It started with our giant cheque presentation to CrossTrainers Canada in support of A Hand Up clothing room & The Hub youth center (located right here in Bradford!) for a total amount of $7011 with funds coming from both our fundraiser which raised $6731 and a portion of all of our memberships. Patti and Shirley were also kind enough to stay and talk a little bit about how the funds will be used, and we're thrilled to kn...ow that not only will we be helping make some family's Christmases brighter, but more importantly we'll be helping pay the bills so they can stay open to continue benefiting our community. Definitely a feel-good moment for the evening! Pictures coming soon! Also from this night, one of our incredible members had a book to present to the Bradford Legion! Doreen had gone and seen author Gladys Bryce speak about her interviews with women who were part of World War II and was proud to present a signed copy of First in Last Out: The RCAF, Women's Division and Nursing Sisters in World War II to Legion President Tammy Paglia. We'll have more details about our Nov 19th meeting & picture rolling out soon! Big thanks again to our community for all of their support in 2019!

We had a fantastic meeting last night! In a slight change to our usual format: we had TWO presenting businesses, a teaching presentation, and final discussions for this week’s fundraiser! Couldn’t make it out? Here’s a recap of what you missed: Our first presenting business was Stephanie Knapp with Colour Me, who talked about the psychology behind picking the right colour shades, and how a slight change of hue can make all the difference to someone who may dislike a specific ...colour. Great educational moment discussing how our perception of colours change as we age. If you got a room that could really use a pick me up to make it great again make sure you check out Steph! Our second presenting business was Jen Feeney of Jen Feeney Events! It was a fun chance for us to learn more about the work and prep that comes into making a successful event, as well as an opportunity for Jen to showcase some of her gorgeous displays! We don’t know how this hard-working Momma does it, but WOW! You’ll also have a chance to experience Jen's attention to detail if you come to our GLOW party on Sat! Our Sept teaching presenter was Jackie Kozak who did a quick walk through of how to build a simple website in a day (or less!), and the difference in perceived professionalism that comes from having a website. Always handy to see the behind-the-scenes of website creation, and handier to know there’s someone to come talk to if you hit a snag along the way. Thank you, Jackie, for teaching us something new!
