I say this time and time again, your intent matters. It equally matters in your personal relationships as it does in your health and well-being. . I've never been more by an exercise as you see here .... Now, I must give credit where credit is due. As I dive deeper into my craft (that I've been cultivating for 15 years), I realize that there's a lot more to learn. The thirst for knowledge is real, but applying it is all the difference. I learned this drill from @dr.joelseedman_ahp . Let's talk abou it. 1. The Oblique Sling bottoms up press A functional Hip requires independent stability and strength On my planted foot, I'm driving down into the ground to produce maximal hip extension which allows my glute medius to do its function (laterally stabilize the hip) . On the other side, I'm creating maximal hip flexion by pressing my knee into the foam roller. At the same time, I'm driving my elbow into the foam roller to activate my obliques. (A strong relationship between your ribcage and pelvis is what ties this all together) . This co-contraction of my hips runs up the chain into my obliques to strengthen the oblique sling - a line of musculature thst runs contralaterally from one shoulder to the opposite hip. The more you drive into the foam roller, the greater full body tension you create. . Finally, adding in a bottoms up press allows me to stability the shoulder joint through its full range of motion. . This drill is a great pre-movement prep for any workout you'll do in the gym. It covers all your bases and allows you to practice full body tension in areas that are needed for Deadlifting, squatting, and pressing. . Quality & intent matters here. Do less reps, and put focus on activating hips and obliques. . . . . . #sweat #trainbetter #intentmatters
