Cupcakes for a cause is an idea that sweet craving will be doing every few months to raise money for a variety of causes. For the month of January, there will be a new flavour of lemon lime cupcakes and portions of the proceeds will be donated to ovarian cancer research. This month is dedicated to a very important family friend named Renate who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. Renate, being the very strong woman that she was, fought for 19 long months and unfortunately we lost Renate in 2013. The first cupcakes for a cause is dedicated to this woman who had a significant impact on all of our lives. Renate had a way of bringing joy to everyone in her life. We continue to miss Renate every day and hope that this disease doesn't impact anyone else. Please donate to this important cause and help other women fight this battle.

Sara started baking when she was just nine years old, everything from muffins to cookies to scones and cakes, often by creating her recipe along the way. She sa...ys she loves to experiment and rarely eats her own treats, finding the most joy by simply sharing with the people she loves most. This heartfelt hobby turned into a DIY fundraiser after Sara’s mom saw a post on Facebook. Over the years, they have lost many important people to different types of cancer, most recently her beloved Nonna who she has lived with her entire life. Sara’s Nonna was diagnosed with brain cancer after struggling with dementia in 2019 and fought hard, alongside her family for three long months. Watching it all happen firsthand, Sara knows that symptoms are not always visible and wanted to use her innate talents to help others who may be suffering from the same disease. Juggling school, work and a bake-from-home bakery at 20 years old isn’t always easy, but Sara is determined to make a difference and has already raised almost $2000 for brain cancer research, surpassing her initial $250 goal in just three days! You can follow along with Sara’s (soon to be baking empire) @cravingforsweetsss. Our advice? Try the carrot cake. ‘Tis the season to give from the heart, how will you DIY?
