Breakfast. Egg scramble with onions, garlic, 3 cheeses, MicroVeggies and beef bacon! With mayo and mustard, of course! Now that’s a wrap!

We’re harvesting today! Peas, Sunflower, Broccoli Salad, Kale and Radish Mix.

Finally, ready to chow down! Recipe is simple, it’s meatless and full of flavour. Tomato sauce, we used homemade. Sliced eggplant, Cottage cheese, lasagna noodle, chopped garlic, chopped onion and sliced mushrooms, lots of sunflower microgreens, tons of shredded cheese. Layer as desired. Bake for 40 minutes; dig in when done! Yummy!

We’ve had some setbacks on the farm this past week. Just gotta roll with them. Had a major success on the mushroom learning curve, though. Ups and downs....that’s farming. Chestnut mushrooms.

I can empathize with farmers when it comes to weather.... Our crops are ready tomorrow and harvest will depend on the weather.

This is the equipment we use to harvest our crops; ceramic knives and plain vinyl gloves. Ceramic does not react with plant chemistry like steel does. The cleaner cut helps retain freshness!

There is lots of color on the farm today, with seedlings! Peas, broccoli salad, arugula, light salad, rapini and alfalfa were started under the lights this morning!

Our little Microfarm is growing Kale, Broccoli, Kohlrabi, Peas, Sunflowers and Radish right now. Day 5. I never get tired of this view.

I admit I have this thing about the delicious little crops we grow on our little farm. I can't resist adding these delicious little Sunflower Microshoots to this other thing a have thing about, Asian style noodles! Try them. You might discover you have a thing....

Another growing cycle is almost done! Which means another harvest is happening Wednesday! We have some new things for y’all to try! The Kale, Purple Kohlrabi, Mustard and Wheatgrass are looking and tasting great! And the Sunflower and Peas are as awesome as always! We’re thankful for that!

We are seeing our crops growing better than we had anticipated and so they are ready sooner! 10 days from germination to harvest are the normal. Ours are two days ahead of the curve! Gotta' be happy with that! This will be the end of the intro offer of 3 for $10.00 except for new customers. We will be offering a weekly delivery subscription, however. It will be 12 packs a month for $45.00 delivered over 4 weeks or however you would prefer. This way, we can plan on growing what you order each week and we all know when harvest and delivery will ensure the fresh stuff for you and your families. We already have Alfalfa, Kale, Purple Kohlrabi, a Mustard Mix, a Sandwich Mix, Wheatgrass growing! And we have more of the Sunflower, Peas and Popcorn, as well! We're pretty excited! In addition to the beautiful Broccoli and Rapini, we have these Sunflowers and Speckled Peas to harvest tomorrow! Nice start to a delicious variety of MicroVeggies! We are recognizing an unusual pattern in the growth cycle of the crops on our farm....they germinate sooner! It must be this great southern Alberta energy!

This is a bunch of our Sunflower Shoots, sautéed in a lot of butter, with a lot of garlic (2 cloves, rough chopped) and, generously sprinkled with scape powder.

Just about supper time! I put this tasty salad together using Pea and Sunflower shoots with Broccoli and Brassica Blend Microgreens. Then I tossed in some MicroDill, Mustard, Popcorn, Beet and Rapini for spice and color! I think I'll dress it up with my homemade Peach Balsamic Vinaigrette!

Our next harvest will be Broccoli and a Broccoli Blend with Broccoli, Rapini, Radish and Arugula. It's a ready to eat Microveggie salad! Just add your favourite dressing and toss it with cherry or chopped tomatoes, some toasted nuts and grated cheese. Include it in your favourite breakfast egg scramble recipe or sandwich or burger at lunch. Yum!

We are growing MicroPopcorn! It is not at all like the stuff you get at the movie theater. It is definitley better for you and it tastes a whole lot different. It is not crunchy and salty. In fact, it is moist, tender and crisp and it is tart, with mild corn flavour and is really sweet. So, it is perfect for kids! Of all ages.... And, we grow it in the dark, which makes it a nice yellow colour we really like. We'll update with pictures in a few days.

Our microfarm is even more micro than a normal farm because it is powered by solar photovoltaic panels on our roof, that produces much of the electricity that grows our microcrops. How’s that for a small environmental footprint?!

What are Microgreens? Microgreens are seeded vegetables that have germinated and sprouted, which are harvested just after the first "cotyledon" and second "true" leaves have developed. They contain between four to 40 times more nutrients by weight than their fully grown counterparts and are what scientists refer to as a "functional food", which means that they can provide each and every one of those key nutrients in a practical way. Some people call our microveggies a superfood. They are essential for all of us and are especially important to people who are focused on their nutrition as it relates to their health and wellness. They also add enhanced visual and flavor components to any recipe or dish they are used in.
