Valerie is a Mining Engineering professional with experience in consulting, finance and operations management. Currently working as a Mining Engineer, P.Eng with Golder Associates Ltd., Valerie leads engineering studies for Canadian and international projects focused on strategic planning, project management, forecasting and budgeting. She is undertaking the CPA professional designation; which allows her to identify gaps in information and oversee the financial strategies of ...a team. As an engineer in a heavily male dominated industry, Valerie would like to be the front runner for new female graduates to improve their status in the workplace. Throughout the development of her career, she has gained experience in completing forecasts, budgets, cost modelling, financial analysis and compliant documentation. Her first hand exposure to operational bottlenecks and how economic assessments play a big role in the success of a project allow her to validate results that are in line with the strategic decision-making of the SWE Toronto team. Sunila is a recent civil engineering graduate with a focus on water services. Her passion for the water industry began while she was volunteering abroad in a village where civilians lacked a very basic human right: access to clean water. She is on a mission to make clean water and basic education accessible for all. Sunila has worked in the realm of customer service for 7+ years and volunteered for several organizations. With direct experience in research, marketing and communications, fundraising, event planning and public speaking; she is committed to expand SWE Toronto's public outreach and amplify our message! On her spare time, she will take any chance she can get to travel (Even if it's just a few hours from home). She is adventurous, curious and loves to expand her perspective.
