A Bit late but this weeks #WednesdayWarrior @SwordsandPloughshares is Jason Brennan! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 26 year old Jay has volunteered with the museum since he was a 12 year old Army Cadet! After his Cadet years he joined the Canadian Army RCEME Corps as a Vehicle technician. He currently works on Heavy Equipment and other big green monsters for 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa. Jay is also one of very few in ...the world that Re-enacts, generally with the museum, in a 1944 RCEME impression. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here he is seen keeping warm and making sure the 101 doesn't roll away! Thanks Jay! #WeeklyUpdate more to follow, Over! Well it's a bit late but... better late than never! Future updates will hopefully be posted every Monday. It's been a busy week! Since the 11th a few important things have happened:... ***Quite a bit of work has been done on the Museums most recent acquisition, a Canadian MLVW Gun tractor to prepare it for licensing. It will be a fantastic work horse for events!*** ***Work continued on the Ancient and Giant Cannon to mate it with the oak gun carriage along with finer detail work and painting.*** ***Some assistance was given to a friend of the museum in licensing one of their military vehicles, an LSVW Command Post variant.*** ***We had several Social Distancing compliant visitors, always welcome when safe!*** ***The 75th annual RCEME day(Birthday of the corps of Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers), 15 May 2020 was celebrated by all. Arte et Marte!*** ***Our military vehicle collector friends in Quebec won a major victory against unreasonable recent changes, historic military vehicles will no longer be "Banned" for road use in Quebec. Congrats folks, well fought!*** ***Our social media presence got up and running. WooHoo!*** ***Our fearless leader continues to mend his broken wing. I know i speak for us all when i say "Get well soon Michael Thomas Anthony Calnan!!!!".*** As the COVID situation continues we still need your help! Of course there are still important restrictions in effect so that can limit things. If you can come out to the Museum to volunteer please send us a message at The Swords and Ploughshares Museum or direct message Michael Thomas Anthony Calnan. (This allows us to organize limiting the number of volunteers on site at any given time and enables proper Social Distancing!) Cheers, The Museum Gang #TheSwordsandPlougharesMuseum #MilitaryHistory #Artillery #MilitaryVehicles

For this week's #VolunteerWednesday, The Swords and Ploughshares Museum would like to thank Isaac Lyrette! Isaac joined the gang last Spring. He has proven himself to be a capable and hard working mechanical genius! A true gear-head and 4X4 enthusiast, 23 year old Isaac is a robotics technician by trade and lives off Dwyer Hill Road. Here he is seen busting a gut adapting the oak gun carriage to fit the ancient and giant cannon! ... Thanks Isaac!

For the first ever #ThrowbackThursday of #SwordsandPloughshares we go back to the 1st of July 2017 and Canada day in Merrickville and Kemptville! Every year on the days leading up to the 1st of July the Museum and its volunteers prepare for Canada day. This involves quite a bit work to inspect and maintain all the participating vehicles and equipment prior to the festivities. When Canada day arrives the Museum and several other collectors orchestrates a massive road move. Al...l this in order to participate in the parades and events of Canada Day in the towns of Merrickville and Kemptville. I believe I speak for all when I say it is always a "Blast"! Pun intended! The video is brought to you by with our thanks Darlene Yee and Greg Calnan! https://youtu.be/Ng1bu72I9gI
