Don’t worry 2020, you’ll feel safe, grounded, and rested when being hugged by your weighted blanket Weighted blankets have shown positive results for several conditions, including autism, ADHD, and anxiety. They can help calm a restless body, reduce feelings of anxiety, and improve sleep troubles. When choosing a weighted blanket for yourself, find a snug size that’s around 10 percent of your body weight.... #weightesblankets #deeppressuretherapy #sensory #sensoryplay #sleepy #sleephygiene #calmyourmind #calm #concentration #groundingtechniques #allages #occupationaltherapy #ot #2020

Perspective? I think so! Look at the differences between a typical preschool child’s hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isn’t able to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing ba...lls, etc. . All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready. via @Raisingherbarefoot #OccupationalTherapy #OT #kids #pedsot #play #playtherapy #finemotorskills #finemotorfun #learningtogether #activities #childtherapy #backtoschool #school2020

How do we know when behaviours are just that or have an underlying reason? Sensory processing difficulties often disguise themselves as unwanted behaviours because our kids don’t know how to explain what their bodies need. Occupational therapists use many tools to figure out the body’s desired feedback and help manage related behaviours For more info, don’t be shy to say hi!
