WELL, We are pretty frustrated here in the office today! We were just informed that we have only got 67 days to file your taxes this year!!! The CRA EFILE system will shut down for annual maintenance on Jan 17, 2020 and will re-open on Monday, Feb 24, 2020, for the electronic filing of 2016-2019 T1 returns. The shutdown is one week earlier than the Jan 24 date previously announced by the CRA! Also, the re-opening of the electronic filing system is one week later than in 2019.... As such, the tax season for T1 Personal Tax Returns is being compressed - again....... The number of days available to efile from the opening date to the April 30th, 2020 deadline is 67 (down from 72 days in 2019). Thank goodness it's a leap year, which buys us one extra day (she says sarcastically). We VERY MUCH felt the pressure of the shortened time frame last year, and now they have taken another 5 full days off of our filing window! The good news for you guys is that it looks like we will have to be open 7 days a week during tax season this year just to try to give you a chance to file on time! UHG!
