Gorgeous white pine sturgeon nose canoe made by the Ktunaxa in Creston BC. The canoe technology is the keeper of their culture and language. Ktunaxa are neighbours to the Snayktx Sinixt people, our Nsyilxn speaking neighbours to the East. https://vimeo.com/110410378
qamqmt i sqlqilts. If a language is merely symbolic it is not thriving. "We should want to identify as people who use the language on an everyday basis. One indicator that your language isn’t doing well, [is] if it’s only being used as symbolic functions, like a sermon or a speech or a ceremony, and it’s not being used to tell your kid to wash their hands better or to flush the toilet. Those are the real words you need to know. Those are indicative of a healthy language, not the special, fancy words in a speech."
Powerful memory with a powerful mentor Samtica she teaches us kindness, acceptance, love, grace, inclusivity, and kick ass perseverance in our language.
