Here is a little background about him: "I have lived in a few different places, but I consider Halifax, Nova Scotia to be home. I moved to Calgary in January of 2020. For my university career, I went to Concordia University for my B.A. and M.A., and then onto the University of PEI for my B.Ed. I started at Sylvan in July, where I really love working with students that are dev...eloping their writing and reading skills but I also teach some lower level math. In my spare time I hang out with my two dogs Fogo & Clancy - they bring me lots of joy. It's Teacher Tuesday again! This week, we're featuring one of our staff who, although he found full time work that started in September, is STILL with us! And we are very pleased to have him! Thomas Vander Weilen! "I am from Chesley, a very small town in southwestern Ontario. I moved to Calgary in August of 2019. For my degrees, I went to Laurentian University in Sudbury. There, I majored in History and Geography and I also took Concurrent Education to obtain my BEd. I gradu...ated in May of 2019. I have been with Sylvan for just over 1 year now. At Sylvan I teach everything but high level Math and Science. My favourite thing to teach is high level Social Studies and English, any chance I have to help students with essays is awesome. In my free time I enjoy watching or playing sports, but I have also recently got into tabletop games like Settlers of Catan and Scythe.
