Hauling some local walnut and not so local ash this week. The ash further north is in better shape than locally, although it was still the ash borer that killed them. Had to load with winch and ramps. The walnut must have hit the ground pretty hard!

Lots of red to be found in this manitoba maple and juniper! Lots of potential for epoxy with the manitoba maple. Heading for the kiln soon!

The kiln is emptied out and filled again! Walnut and hard maple charcuterie board material is out! Manitoba maple slabs 18-24" wide, 6-7' long. What's in the kiln now?... -spalted maple -spalted elm -2" red oak -juniper live edge -2" honey locust! -quarter sawn white oak -5/4 cherry -hard maple Makes me look forward to August!

I could take pictures of this walnut all day! All this wood (only a little shown) is 100% from tree tops left behind by big commercial loggers. We should be doing better than that. Some of the most beautiful wood grain is left behind. It's not uncommon, actually the every day. This came from only a couple of miles away, but within a one mile radius of my sawmill there was a lot of logging in 2019, and IF I were to collect all the usable tree top material I could saw for se...veral years easy!
