Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic collapse of the oil and gas sector, municipal decision makers in Alberta have to make tough financial and planning decisions. They need to ensure their communities are sustainable, while they maintain the quality of service delivery their citizens have come to expect. Given this challenge, ARPA sees a strong need to assess the public perceptions of the value of recreation and parks. ARPA has developed a short, online survey that will take less than 5 minutes to complete, to gather Albertans’ perceptions of the value of public recreation services and park areas. Hi All The City of Calgary is pleased to announce a new collection of online activities and resources for Calgarians of all ages. Calgary.ca/athome features programs and activities for kids, youth, seniors and families. Program leaders from Recreation, Parks and Calgary Neighbourhoods have developed videos, instructions and learning modules for everything from fitness, to crafts and games, to ways to engage with nature. Our partners at the Calgary Zoo, Glenbow Museum, Calgary... Public Library, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and TELUS Spark also have a section on the page with links to their wonderful online programs and activities. Keeping our minds and bodies active and finding new ways to connect with ourselves, each other and nature is key to staying mentally and physically healthy during this time of physical distancing. Good morning! A Public Service Announcement (of sorts): Symons Valley Park WILL have parking on-site once its developed but right now, it's a big grassy field. This means when you come to the Family Fun Day event tomorrow (Sept. 14), you'll likely have to park a short distance away and walk or bike to the site. We want you and your family to be safe, so please be sure to use designated crosswalks when coming to the event! We look forward to seeing you!
