Picking out your outfit for the first day of school is always a big deal. When Phyllis Webstad was 6 years old, she headed to her first day at St. Joseph’s Miss...ion residential school in British Columbia in a brand new orange shirt her grandmother had given her. Upon arriving at school, Phyllis’ shirt was taken from her and she never got it back. The color orange has always reminded me of that and how my feelings didn’t matter, how no one cared and how I felt like I was worth nothing. All of us little children were crying and no one cared.
