As we move closer to Giving Tuesday on December 1, it's good to consider the positive benefits of charity. Generosity is a powerful way to fight feelings of isolation and loneliness that many Canadians are experiencing right now, says Teresa Marques, President and CEO of the Rideau Hall Foundation. Giving Tuesday "is an occasion for our country to come together and support what matters most to us as individuals, Canadians and global citizens. I encourage all Canadians to rally on this global day of action and show ourselves as a nation who comes together in times of difficulty to help and give hope We couldn't have said it better! www.talithakoumsociety.org/donate

We're part of the Giving Tuesday movement in Canada. After Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday--Dec. 1 this year. After several days of shopping for great deals, Giving Tuesday is a time to deal something great to your favourite charities. We hope you support us. You can do so now or on Dec. 1 by visiting www.talithakoumsociety.org/donate. Thanks! Meantime, to learn more about Giving Tuesday, please see this video: https://youtu.be/Rq4DNKlVdxw

A big TK "thank you" goes out this afternoon to a wonderful Coquitlam woman (who wishes to remain anonymous), who has donated several dozen homemade knitted toques, scarves, socks and slippers for use by our clients and their children. Just in time for cold autumn and winter days! Thank you! And thanks for the bonus donation of linens. Always a useful gift! We are most appreciative.

We are pleased to announce that we've been chosen as one of three recipients of funds being raised in a raffle, for an amazing basket of cosmetics worth $1,300, organized by the St. Clare of Assisi Parish (Coquitlam) branch of the Catholic Women's League! Tickets are 1 for $10, 3 for $20 and 10 for $50, and can be obtained by e-transferring payment to [email protected]. Or, if you wish, you can drop off a cheque at the parish office, 2888 Delahaye Dr. (at Johnson), Coquitlam. Ticket sales end Nov. 26 and the draw is Nov. 28. Organizers will contact you with your ticket numbers once they receive payment. Thank you, CWL!

Our community foundations have long done great work, but their coming together to respond to the pandemic, through their administration of the federal government’s Emergency Community Support Fund program (from which we have gratefully received support) has raised that to another level. Congratulations!
