Enough said.........
We continue to have people ask about their return to Yellowknife on the Saturday their trip ends regarding making flight arrangements home. No one should be looking to catch a flight out of Yellowknife any earlier than 2pm and later is better! Reason is simple folks...we don't control the float companies for one and their schedules can change due to many factors..WEATHER being one! Flying out Saturday will not get you home on Saturday, so an overnight is required somewhere p...oints south. Miss your Saturday flight and you might not get home till Tuesday. Not worth a roll of the dice if you ask us. - John Mich
Note: the new REAL ID is NOT a passport. You can not fly into Canada without a VALID US PASSPORT. REAL ID only works on domestic flights. -Jamie-
This is your yearly reminder to check the expiration on your Passport. You don't want that trip of a lifetime ruined due to a clerical error. - John Mich
Report from our last group in camp the second week of September. Thanks to Dale Shinavar! For the 2nd week of September, it was a beautiful week. No rain until the last night, sun most of the week. The Aurora every night. Water looked to be very low and in the main weed bed was about 4-5 feet deep in many places. This seemed to push the fish out to areas beyond the main weed bed. Way out. Many trophies were caught far off Tower Island, to areas we have not fished much in prio...r years. Many caught in spots with no cover, large sand flats. Not sure if the big girls were waiting out there for the whitefish or resting after gulping down one. Some were caught with whitefish tails sticking out of their throat. Trophy numbers were down from prior visits, 78 for our 4 guys. With the biggest 46. We had 4 guys from Sweden in camp with us and their numbers were higher. Pounding areas 200 to 300+ yards off Tower Island.
The August 31 - September 7 groups trip is in the books and considering the lake being down 2 feet affected overall numbers, the big girls still came to play. For the most part the weather was classic fall...winds north, northeast, northwest and all the other north's were in order for the week. The boat of John Mich and Scott Kolpin accounted for 73 trophy pike, with 27 being north of 43". The boat of Bill Kallenburg and Rick Sweeney hooked landed and measured 59 trophy pike... ( exact number over 43 is unknown) ( we won and we didn't ask). The after dinner after dark trolling bite was the bomb with many of the giants showing up for the pitch black fun! Tracy feed us like Kings and the boys in camp behaved. This is the latest we've fished the camp and we walked away thinking the second week of September might have our name on it! - John Mich
