This is a start to finish Passive House built by Tamarack Construction this year. The Passive house standard is the highest standard of energy efficiency being built in North America. We input every detail of the houses design and construction into computer software to very accurately predict the energy performance of the building. Using insulation, draft control, and passive elements such as solar gains for heating, these buildings are up to 70% more energy efficient than th...eir equivalent house built to the minimum building code requirements. The goal of the standard is to achieve an affordable cost of living in the house, while upgrading the performance of the building. The lower utilitie costs opens up more financing available for the extra up front construction costs, ideally living in a more comfortable higher quality home for a comparable monthly cost of living in the home as a code equivalent.
