A note on City property and utility right of ways: We get a lot of call regarding trees that are on right-of-ways, so to save time for all involved here is some information. The city has a right-of-way along most streets that extends 5'-12' into your yard. Any trees in that area are city property and can only be maintained by the city under penalty of fines. City property could also abut your property as a greenbelt, park, cemetery, etc. In all cases if you have an issue with... a tree on city property you must call 311 and the urban forester will come assess the tree and advise you of ownership and options. We will not work on trees on city property without authorization from the urban forester. You might also have a tree that is located on your property but has branches that are near uncovered live electrical wires (primary). In this case you must call your hydro utility (Sudbury Hydro or Hydro One) and they will come prune that back free of charge. We are not utility arborists and will not work near uncovered wires. If in doubt post some pictures and we will gladly give you some advice.
