Sad to say scammers are in full force this holiday season. If you receive a friend request from us please know it is a scam. Working with Facebook to have their page disabled but it does take time. This is what they are sending people. Apologies. The Difference in the page is only the - between the words Tamarind-Optical. We would never request you register on any websites to win prizes from us. We also would never need your credit card information to claim prizes, as we run these out of our local business and just have people pick up the prize themselves 90% of the time. Tamarind Optical Sydney River location will be closed the week of July 26th reopening on August 4th. We are closing so that our staff can take a summer holiday. With the current process required to maintain a safe working environment, we feel it would be too much to keep correctly with a full staff member away for any length of time. Therefore we thought it best to chose a week where all could leave, enjoy some downtime in the summer heat, (we hope it will be nice out), with family and friends. Our Glace Bay office will remain open and will choose their time at a later date. The Tamarind Team appreciates your support and understanding during these times.

So as tomorrow looms closer and we start to see routine patients, we thought it was prudent to mention some of the changes that you may see when you arrive at our offices for the next "while". Upon arrival you will find the front doors locked. Do not worry, this is in place to help abide by the public health directives and limit the number of people in the office at any given time. There is a doorbell which you can ring to gain access. A staff member will meet you at the ...door and ask the typical COVID questions. We request that you do not enter our office if you have been out-of-the-province int he past 14 days, or if you have been showing signs or symptoms of illness. Please be truthful with your responses as it has been a "long" 3 months and we are happy to reschedule any patients by another 2 weeks if necessary. As stated, COVID practices are in place, and so entry into our facility requires the wearing of a mask. If you do not have one, you may purchase one at a cost of $1.00. The proceeds will be given to Caleb's Courage, because superheroes typically wear masks. Hand sanitizer is located by the door and we ask that you use it upon entry. Physical distancing is still being observed, so the staff will likely direct you where to go and stand. Waiting room capacity has been decreased, and if there are too many people in the office getting glasses, repairs and exams we may request that you wait in the car and a staff member will alert you when it is time to enter. We have tried to schedule people in a timely way to limit this, as well as to provide us time to clean surfaces and chairs between our guests. We have remained open, in a limited capacity, throughout the pandemic, and as such we have developed and refined a thorough cleaning regimen. This will be going on constantly, behind the scenes, and you likely will see cleaning materials and staff throughout your time in our facility. We are looking forward to seeing our community members and patients whom we have missed in the last few months. Some of you have been in to order Contact Lenses and have glasses repaired, but many others have missed their recall dates, and we will be contacting you shortly to invite you back in. Because of our specific scheduling requirements it may take a little bit longer to get you in, but we are looking at adding extra hours and evenings to try to clear up the backlog. Thanks you for having patience with us in these interesting times, and we look forward to serving you in the near future.

After 11 weeks of Quarantine from COVID-19; it's finally time to emerge from our cocoons to start seeing patients again. It has been a long process, and "Quarantine Bear" has helped pass the time. We felt that "Quarantine Bear" would be the perfect way to announce the "Next Steps". While the initial steps will be slow, and there likely will be glitches to overcome, Tamarind Optical spent the last 60+ days with our staff "in house" providing repairs, and Glasses and Contact ...Lens sales. You can be assured we have prepared process and procedures to be followed under the new health regulations to meet (or exceed) all requirements. There will be some changes from the number of patients seen daily based on the Public Health guidelines and to keep our patients and employees safe. These policies and procedures will be posted in the office and can be explained by phone to those people booking appointments. Tamarind Optical spent the last 60 days with our staff preparing process and procedures to be followed under the new health regulations to meet or exceed all requirements.
