Housing market will continue to defy gravity: Central 1 Rock-bottom mortgage rates will drive B.C. home prices up over the next two years, says Central 1 Credit Union.
Momentum in B.C.’s buoyant real estate market is coming from outside Vancouver, especially in the Fraser Valley and the Okanagan, as buyers continue to seek detached homes.
Metro housing sales set another record level in October, despite dire predictions from big banks, analysts and government.
Sales were up 22% in the Greater Vancouver region, and up 54.7% in the Fraser Valley, compared with November 2019.

There is some data to suggest that as downtown dwellers look for more spacious abodes in the suburbs, suburbanites, in turn, are seeing home prices rise in their neighbourhoods.
As of the middle of October, 1,741 homes have changed hands in the Vancouver region, up nearly 54 percent from the first half of the month last year. It’s a strong signal that the region’s housing market will deliver more remarkable figures by month end for October.
The total for September meant sales rose a remarkable 56.2 percent over the previous year and were 44.8 percent above the 10-year average for the month. Last month’s tally also firmly beat out August’s total by nearly 20 percent.
