A 1-2 mm thickness vegetable-tanned leather is best suited for this type of project. Old World Veg-Tan Belly is used for this instructional guide, which is on sale now through September 14th! Im Terra Dearing, a team member from Tandy in Round Rock, Texas. I made this small over the shoulder work pouch so I always have access to my pen, paper, knife and leather gauge! I designed this pattern to be 5 by 8 with a 1 gusset! For fun I attached a resin crystal cluster! I made mine to be an over the shoulder bag, but the pattern could easily be modified to attach to a belt. Cait Bascom was born and raised on a ranch in the foothills of southern Alberta, Canada. Her love of the lifestyle, animals, and fashion manifested early. She spent countless hours loping her pony with a red, faux crocodile purse slung over the saddle horn, a princess dress flouncing in the breeze, and wearing an art deco hat with its floral decoration streaming out behind. Cait trained as a broadcast journalist and did a stint in community radio. After being let go from her ...job she retreated to the ranch her future husband was working on and re-examined her life. One day while sitting on the couch with two ranch dogs for company, she noted the frayed baler twine collars they were wearing. I can do better than that, she thought and set to work fashioning two hand-carved leather collars. Cait named her enterprise Cattle Cait," the childhood nickname bestowed upon her by her father. Her work echoes her childhood in a fusion of western lifestyle, fashion, and whimsey. From hand-crafted covers for branding booklets, pin-up art style apparel to hand-carved leather and silver goods, Cait has turned her hobby into a thriving online business. Cait and her husband Lee now call the prairies just east of the Cypress Hills of Saskatchewan home. She continues to garner her inspiration from the West.
