This is a perfect match! We all need love and connection. My work as a therapy dog team with Chester taught me how social engagement enhances the lives of seniors and people living in isolation. How wonderful it is to bring a dog from a shelter, giving their life love, purpose and helping others. This makes me feel so happy.

This is a special place that brings back memories of my walks with my dad and our dog Arthur in Stanley Park. We fondly call this Arthur's Pond. A place where we laughed while Arthur pranced in the waters and danced with joy. Good times. And when Chester came along he too liked to get his feet wet and splash around. I am grateful for the memories, the walks, the stories, the songs and the silliness. I hold all of this in one hand as I embrace grief in the other while I walk... beside my dad as he transitions into his next phases of life. I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I do know that I am present to the experience and I am feeling. We are alive in this moment.

This is my new gym. Working out on the beach with my personal trainer has increased my energy, strength and balance. Taking control of my life,my health and happiness. As a caregiver I lost myself for awhile. Now I am back on track, embracing my passions and helping other women caregivers of aging parents who are on the verge of burn out.

Being out in nature with Chester is the best medicine. We slow down and explore the smells, sounds and sights while feeling the joy of being alive and well in this beautiful forest. What do you do for self care?
