Dental offices in Nova Scotia will be authorized starting June 5 to provide emergency and urgent dental treatment in their clinics. While dental offices have always followed strict infection control guidelines, they will be following additional protocols identified by the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia and in collaboration with Public Health. What’s the difference between emergency, urgent, and non-urgent dental treatment? Dental emergency: potentially life-threatenin...g conditions which require immediate treatment. Urgent dental care: conditions that require immediate attention to relieve severe pain and/or risk of infection. Non-urgent dental care: includes regular check-ups and hygiene appointments and are not to be performed until June 19. Dentists will be able to provide all dental procedures starting on June 19. Please know we are here to help with any dental issues or emergencies that arise during the Covid19 closures. Although we can not see you in our office we are more than happy to help out in other ways. We are also very fortunate to have great local support from our local emergency dental clinics such as the one at Dalhousie where Dr Macaskill is volunteering.

Dental Offices have been mandated by the Provincial Dental Board, and Dr. Strang that we can no longer see patients within our clinics. If you’re experiencing any dental related pain, please call your dentist as they will assess and triage all inquiries. Further to the announcement from our Dental Association on Sunday March 15th, 2020, we are seeing emergency patients only. Emergency being defined as extreme pain, swelling, and or trauma.
