You can read our release below: Grande Prairie, AB (December 5, 2018): Grande Prairie residents will soon have a better way to get around with Tappcar announcing today that it will be launching operations in the growing northern city. The third-largest rideshare company in Canada, TappCar said Grande Pr...airie’s business and regulatory conditions, as well as its vibrant population, made its decision to enter the local market an easy one. We are ecstatic to be the first rideshare company to enter the Grande Prairie market, which is young, vibrant and in need of more transportation choice, TappCar spokesperson Tim Gerwing said. Today, we agreed that a managed number of rideshare vehicles on the road in British Columbia could be good for the industry, traffic and public safety. You can read our release below. EDMONTON, AB (November 21, 2018): Today, Tappcar Canada’s third-largest rideshare company said it respects the idea of managing the number of rideshare vehicles on the road in British Columbia, a move that could help the province avoid the kind of issues seen in other jurisdictions. TappCar... said international rideshare companies have flooded markets with supply in other jurisdictions, causing traffic problems for municipalities and earning problems for drivers. The company said it has full confidence in the Passenger Transportation Board’s (PTB) ability to create a comprehensive policy that is in the overall best interest of the rideshare industry and public safety. There needs to be a balance, and we’re happy to see that the Government of British Columbia understands that, TappCar spokesperson Pascal Ryffel said. Competition is good, but when major, billion-dollar companies try and run roughshod over the competition, all sorts of spinoff problems start to arise. We’ve seen this play out in other jurisdictions time and time again. We’re happy to see British Columbia take a proactive approach to this issue with evidence-based, data-driven decision-making being delegated to the PTB. TappCar said it looks forward to working with the PTB policy to ensure British Columbians are receiving the best possible service. TappCar has proven, in every jurisdiction it operates in, that it holds a social responsibility to the community, as well as a professional responsibility to its drivers and passengers, Ryffel said. As a Canadian-owned company, our main focus isn’t revenues, it’s creating a sustainable product that makes life better for Canadians. Policies like this aid in that pursuit.
