Canadian Emergancy Responce Benefit is open for application. The CRA website for links and questions is below. We are still waiting for business credits to be finalized. https://www.canada.ca///ei/cerb-application/questions.html
Please note that though we all hear every day or hour in some cases about all the credits for individuals and companies I have not been posted them. At this time, we are all confused on what is happening and going to happen. Once the government has the websites up and running to apply for all the credits I will share them. I want to be sure all of you are correctly informed. For now you can view the federal site for the latest news. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news.html Please take care. Stay safe and healthy.

Now that regular tax season is over. I want to remind all the sole proprietors out there that your dead line for tax filing is June 15th. Be sure to bring in your papers ASAP as these returns take extra time and we want to be sure your deadline is met.
So personal tax deadline for non-business returns has passed. If you havent filed be sure to get to your professional accountant ASAP to avoid anymore interest and penalties.
A little off of tax but do you and or your spouse have a will set up? No matter your age it is important to have a will in place. If there is money and/or your personal corporation in your estate you want to be sure there is direction on what happens to these funds/shares. Ie beneficiaries and charities For this, be sure to talked to a lawyer specializing in estates and wills.

Do you use your personal vehicle for work? Do you have a log book to keep track of business verses personal kms? If not time to start is now. In order to claim use of your vehicle on your personal tax return, a log book is mandatory.
I have received lots of questions about carbon tax rebate(Climate Action Incentive Payments) this is paid out on tour tax return to all single and couples regardless of income. The only stipulation is you must live in Saskatchewan, Ontario, Manitoba, or New Brunswick. And the amount is different in each province. Talk to your professional accountant to see how much you are entitled to on your tax return.

If you owe taxes this year, be sure to file and pay by April 30th to avoid both interest and penalties. There are many ways to pay your taxes such as; through online banking, at your bank, mail in a cheque or pay on the CRA website. https://www.canada.ca//e/payment-save-time-pay-online.html
With Uber fresh in our minds, are you thinking of driving for Uber? Please know that you must apply for a CRA business number and charge GST on the first dollar you make from Uber. Be sure to discuss with your Professional Accountant before starting this new venture.
We are now right in the thick of tax season. Do you use your car for your business? If so a log book of business kilometers is mandatory to prove the business use percent. If you havnt started using one, I suggest starting immediately. There are lots of apps available or even pop by my office for a paper log book. Anyway that you find it easier to do consistantly, the better.
