The Oxford County Library wants to help support you and your child's learning this fall. Whether you are returning to school, navigating at-home learning or participating in learning pods, we are here for you!

Execulink Telecom has been awarded funding to support five fibre-to-the-home projects. The newly awarded projects will collectively service 68 kilometres of underserved roadway through out the County to bring high-speed internet to 860 homes and businesses within the Townships of East Zorra-Tavistock, Norwich, South-West Oxford and Zorra. The projects represent a collective total investment of approximately $3.2 million and will be completed with service available between mid-to-late 2022.

Here’s to the ER Nurse waiting in the trauma room trying to scarf down a pack of graham crackers and peanut butter before your patient arrives because you are 1...0 hours into a 12 hour shift and haven’t gotten a break yet. Here’s to the ER Nurse who who’s taking crazy nurse patient ratios and has threatened to quit about 10 times during the shift, but knows they never will because this is their calling. Here’s to the ER Nurse calling report to the floor for the 5th time only to be told the receiving nurse has fallen into the abyss never to be heard from again. Here’s to the ER Nurse driving home half asleep only to lay in bed wide awake because your brain is still spinning from the madness that is Emergency Medicine. Here’s to the ER Nurse grabbing that warm blanket and turkey sandwich for that patient that just verbally assaulted you. Here’s to the ER Nurse that has taken a punch, a kick, a wad of spit in the face, and been called every name in the book and wonders why their hospital system will do nothing to change this culture. Here’s to the ER Nurse trying to fix their face when ICU is asking about last BM’s and what the patient’s toenails look like. Here’s to the ER Nurse picking up that 5th extra shift because you don’t want your team to be short staffed. Here’s to the ER Nurse who is putting on a smile for their next patient after hugging the family of your patient that you weren’t able to save. Here’s to every ER Nurse out there who is making a difference! Keep your heads up!!! HAPPY EMERGENCY NURSES WEEK!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!

Doug Ford is NOT mismanaging this crisis. He is managing it exactly as conservatism dictates he should. More folks are looking to private education than ever ...before. With faster COVID testing available for a fee, the privatization of healthcare is being normalized. The rich have gotten significantly richer during this crisis. Heck, hospitals are firing nurses, school boards are axing jobs, the public sector is shrinking. This was always part of their plan - the pandemic just provided a way to quicken the process. This is neoliberalism at its worst. The good news is we’ve all seen the devestating consequences of an economy built for the wealthiest. It’s not built for sustainability, or efficiency. It’s not aimed at meeting all our needs, or helping to navigate a crisis. It has but one purpose - to accumulate wealth in the hands of a few. So, now that there’s no denying the system doesn’t work for US - what are we going to do about it?
