Tara Zorn Fitness 01.09.2020

I started working with Tara in January. Having never worked with a trainer before, I had no expectations. It was really a try and see experience. Well 7 months later I am completely changed. I have a significant increase in strength and energy, my moods and possibly my hormones are more balanced. My minor injuries have healed and my joints are more fluid. As a woman in her late 40s this has been extremely beneficial. I am really enjoying the workouts, always efficient a...nd challenging that keep me coming back for more. I have recommended Tara Zorn to many of my friends and cannot rave enough about her, the workouts and my experience. Now a lifer I think!

I took time today for not only a workout but a nap. You see I am learning that when I choose me and care for myself first, that everything else gets taken care of too. My kids are loved and looked after, dinner is made, laundry is done, groceries ordered and I also showed up and cared for all my clients. I used to think that choosing myself was selfish and at times I still struggle to find the gentleness and compassion to meet myself where I am each day. My coach @sharonstor...os is helping me to understand on a much deeper level that it is not selfish but "self-first." If we put ourselves FIRST, if we tend to our own needs FIRST, we are then able to extend ourselves in a much deeper level to meet everything else that is in our day. Today I chose me, tomorrow I will choose me again and I will continue to put myself before everything else. I encourage you to find the moments in your day to meet yourself where you are. To care for yourself and ensure that your needs are met before everyone else. I guarantee when you choose yourself "FIRST you will show up different for everything else around you.

I met Tara two years ago. I happened to see an ad for her paddle board lessons and after looking at her Facebook page I learned she offered personal training. I had been really feeling a lack of confidence in myself at the time and I had let my hectic schedule and commitments to work and family become an excuse to not take care of myself. After a phone call with Tara I immediately knew it was the right decision. In the beginning,Tara offered the perfect balance of letting me ...take it slow and rediscover what my body was capable of while challenging me. Over the past two years Tara has pushed me to see myself differently and fight through all the things life throws at us. There have been many sessions where we spent more time talking and crying than working out and definitely too many times to count of laughing till we cry. When COVID began, I became even more appreciative of my time with Tara as she pivoted to virtual training for her clients. Being able to work out even at home was such a good release from everything going on and really helped my stress and anxiety. Over the summer, I was even able to maintain my training schedule on vacation by bringing weights or bands and logging in for a zoom workout with her. I am so grateful for the person Tara has helped me to become. She is beyond a personal trainer, she is a coach, a mentor and a friend. In addition to Tara, I have met a community of other women who are like me, for an hour a day or a week, set aside their stress, their guilt, their worries and put themselves first. Its so empowering! Thank you Tara for all you do for me and the rest of your clients!

Last year I was looking for some community connection and a tough bootcamp after recently moving to the area. Oooh boy did I find both with Taras bootcamp! Taras message believing exercise heals is at the forefront of her classes. She welcomes you as you are that day, whether you are ready to lift heavy weights or needing to lay down the heaviness you came in carrying. Never was this needed more than during Covid. I will forever be grateful for her willingness to give Zoom bootcamps a go this spring and allowing us all to continue our fitness journey in a new way. I love that each class is fresh and has a new challenge. My body (and spirit) have become stronger because of the work Tara encourages us to do.

The past 10 days has been one of the most stressful times in my life. What I know is that movement helps decrease stress and anxiety. So as I decompress and work to release the things that do not serve me, I will lean hard into my workouts and training. ... I learned a long time ago not to underestimate the power of moving your body. Exercise is a mood changer, a stress reducer and a release of endorphins. For me it is one of the most beneficial things I can do for my mental health and wellness.

My absence for the last few days is due to a family emergency and I ask for your continued patience as my time and energy is needed with my family. I came to meet Tara 3 summers ago by taking a SUP (stand up paddle board) lesson from her. She mentioned that she taught Bootcamps as well. I tried a class and was impressed right from the start. Ive worked out for years and loved that she had us do things I had never done before all the while correcting form and giving encouragement. Tara truly believes that physical fitness/ activity helps with your mental health not just our bodies well being. When Covid 19 hit Tara no...t only pivoted by taking our workouts on Zoom, she challenged herself and us to work harder and with focus which has helped us all get through this challenging time. Tara has helped me thru injuries, upsets and everything life as thrown at me with a smile, words of encouragement and a hug when allowed. Three years of sweating and laughing together and I am honoured to call her a friend.

Just over three years ago I retired after almost 30 years of teaching and my son was just graduating from UBC. I wanted to do something very special with him. It took a while to decide where to travel and to save for this trip of a lifetime! However, by December 2019, we decided on walking 100 kms on the Camino de Santiago in Spain come May 2020. I wanted to be in the best shape possible as I was 60 and no 26 year old (son or not) was going to out walk me in stamina and endu...rance! I remembered Tara from a Women in Business event we both attended. She addressed my concerns and had options (I like options) to join one of her small groups. I had never done small group fitness training before and it was perfect for me. I needed someone not only with expertise but someone to keep an eye on me as I have Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue. Tara also encouraged me to increase my walking in preparation for our trip. Due to Covid, our trip was cancelled. We hope to go next Spring. Yet I have kept training with Tara and Ive become stronger and more agile and feel healthy! But there is another aspect to working with Tara and being in a small group. Little did I know I would be going through two life changing events, one quite traumatizing. Tara was there for me as support not only in my physical journey but in my emotional journey; always willing to lend a helping hand, give words of advice when I needed it and lend a listening ear. Some of our group sessions wed all be crying or wed all be laughing or it was a mixture of emotions. But we all support one another in our lifes journey!

Happy Monday team! 3 weeks ago I started something new. I had an opportunity to step into the uncomfortable, the new, and to learn a skill that I have always had a desire to take on. Sometimes things are presented to you and placed at your feet. Will you choose to step into it or turn around in fear?... Change comes from the willingness to become uncomfortable and vulnerable. What will you do different this week? What will you change? What will you step into that is right in front of you? Working with Tara has been life changing both emotionally and physically. In February this year my-life took an unexpected curve ball, and then covid hit and I was in need of some support to get the weight off that had crept up. In April I found myself wanting to move but not feeling up to hitting a big gym and I needed someone to keep me accountable. Since I had never done this before I asked around and Taras name came up. I decided to take a gamble and try small group and... one on one sessions. With Taras amazing support and encouragement, I am getting fit and enjoying it. I have never trained with a trainer before and for the first time in my life I also was able to take Tara on the road when I went way. ME working out on my vacations on zoom laughing and sweating was unexpected. I am forever grateful for having Tara getting me moving and Im on the road to being healthy not only my body, but also my mind. The past three months working with Tara has given me the confidence to try to push myself with other activities (Walking and hiking). Additionally, my emotional wellbeing has also improved. I am showing myself that I can do this and so much more. I am even getting brave and going to try to paddle-boarding with her.

Fifty 70lb sit-ups to end my workout today. We often think we have nothing left at the end of a hard workout, but I bet you do. I want to challenge you to push just a little bit further and add on some sit-ups or even some planks to the end of your workout today. Add a ball to your chest for some added resistance!
