Contrary to popular belief (and many Netflix rom coms), tarot cards don’t predict your future or tell your fortune. During a reading, I won’t be giving you lottery numbers or the name of your supposed soul mate. And I always warn people that, if someone claiming to be psychic starts bossing you around (i.e. You must do THIS on THAT day or else!), take your money and run because that is some Bull. Shit. (I call it my ‘woo woo PSA’)... There are 78 cards in a deck and each one tells you a different story. These stories are universal archetypes or lessons, which is why they resonate with everyone (I call my readings randomly specific and specifically random). But they never tell you what to do - I don’t want you to abdicate responsibility for your life and I’m not interested in self-fulfilling prophecies. I’d rather empower you to make the best decision for yourself based on the energy and story of the cards. People often say my readings validate what they already know and inspire them to take action (from baby steps to big leaps). Hello Gorgeous! There are quite a few new faces here at Woo Woo HQ so allow me to introduce myself. I’ve been reading tarot cards for over 30 years (!) and even when I did the corporate hustle, I always had my cards close by (confession: reading my clients has kept me from getting fired from at least 2 jobs) #truestory... My intention has always been to inspire, empower and enlighten - my vibe is ‘Woo Woo Without the Cuckoo’. I don’t talk about death and dying because, spoiler alert, we’re all gonna die. In certain parts of North America, the sugar bush is a rite of spring involving a horse-drawn sleigh ride, maple syrup, and nature. The most dangerous part is usually the threat of diabetic coma from all the syrup and candy. But, a few years ago, my family almost went to the big sugar bush in the sky. We’d gone to this park for years and loved seeing the huge Clydesdale horses driven by a mountainous man of indeterminate age who never flinched behind the reins. ... But, on this fateful day, our driver was barely out of diapers and I easily outweighed him by half (although I was seven months pregnant at the time and likely outweighed the regular driver, too) Looking back, we knew something was off from the start: the horses immediately began to trot and our baby driver was straining with the reins and muttering curse words to himself. As our destination came into view, the horses decided they’d had enough and broke into a let’s-blow-this-pop-stand gallop. We flew through the trees, barely keeping both of the sleigh runners on the grooved path as we careened around corners. I clenched my son with one arm and my massive belly with the other as my husband calmly instructed me on how we would deal with the sleigh flipping over. People on the path ahead of us leapt into the snow bank to avoid being run over. All of us in the sleigh were eerily silent. We saw train tracks in the distance and my heart dropped. It had staggered metal barriers and we were definitely going to crash. Three burly farm workers stood in front of the barriers waving their arms overhead and screaming, WHOA! And then, on a dime and inches from the men, the horses stopped in their tracks. Everyone applauded our poor driver, who was openly weeping with relief. I found out recently that people still talk about the runaway sleigh. Apparently, we are Legends of the Sugar Bush (which sounds more like a porn title than a near death experience and I would like it on my headstone). See more

People learning tarot always get freaked out when it comes to doing readings because they think they need to pull 37 cards or do a Celtic Cross spread or whatever for it to work. Spoiler alert: you only need one card for it to work. Each card tells a story and these stories tap into struggles or challenges or opportunities for growth that we’ve been facing for centuries (that’s why this archaic deck of cards still resonates today). ... I can give someone a pretty robust reading with just three cards. The key is figuring out how these cards work together - that’s when things get interesting. This image is an example of the message 3 cards can give when read together: - The Fool: Leap and the net will appear. You have to start before you’re ready. - 7 of Cups: There are lots of decisions to make around this leap and the key is to be decisive. If you take too long, your options will dwindle. Let head/heart/gut all have a say. - 7 of Coins: It’s time to do some good old-fashioned goal setting. Write (don’t type) your ideal outcome and then take time to reflect on how you can reverse engineer it (and what internal shifts need to happen to transition from the present to the future state). That’s a lot of information, right? Confession time: I’m dating again. It’s been over 20 years since my last one and I was never particularly good at it, so I wasn’t sure I’d remember how to do it. But, with 2 teenagers under our roof, my husband and I have no choice. We’re getting ditched by our babies on the regular in favour of friends, Friends reruns, and even school (you know it’s bad when). Sure, we can wrestle them into accompanying us to dinner, or bribe them with obscene amounts of candy to ...sit in the dark basement with us for 2 hours and watch a movie. But, for the first time in over 17 years, my fella and I are mostly on our own. We never really had date nights when my kids were smaller due to lack of family and babysitters being scarce (and more pricey than the date). So here we are, alone at last. The first couple of times, we just kind of stared at each other, like, WTF are we supposed to do now? One kid is usually in the house (just not wanting to be in the part we inhabit) so we can’t transform our home into a Hedonism resort and run around naked. Instead, we started with a trip to Home Depot. My dude asked if I wanted to join him to buy a weed whacker (be still my heart) and we impulsively stopped for a drink on the way home. It felt nice. The next day, I invited him to join me on some errands around town. We took our time and held hands as we wandered. It felt really nice. Our evening dog walk has become a mid-day hike at a local conservation area. It felt extremely nice. I’m getting to know this man I married in a different way, one rooted in shared experiences, inside jokes, and a conscious decision to have some fun. The Six of Cups is a lesson in letting go. Where the focus goes, the energy flows - and this card is telling you that there’s too much focus being placed on the past. You can’t move forward when you’re looking over your shoulder and the Six of Cups is reminding you to stop looking behind you and face front. ... That might mean releasing resentments or grudges or things you just can’t move past. It can also be letting go of old stories you’ve been telling yourself about how things are supposed to go or ditching the expectations you have of yourself or others (It’s always been this way... or It’s never going to change... or This is just how I am). Carrying around these grudges or stories serve no purpose aside from weighing you down and holding you back from reaching your dreams. By feeling the feelings associated with the past, you can process and release them (and it evicts the people you’ve been letting live rent-free in your head). Seeing the lesson that comes from the bad stuff - even if it’s just how to avoid it in the future - is a gift. So take that lesson from the past, put a couple of pictures in the album, and ditch the crap that’s no longer serving you. Meet my favourite card in the deck: Mr. Fat & Happy, aka the Nine of Cups. Look at him sitting there with all of his cups lined up behind him, completely satisfied (Do I want anything? Need anything? Nope - I have it all!). The Nine of Cups is about dreams coming true, wishes being granted, and desires being fulfilled. ... Signs are everywhere - we simply have to remember to ask and be open to receiving them. And the signs can show up in a multitude of ways. Imagine asking for validation about a big decision you’re about to make. You then get in your car and a song comes on the radio that connects you to someone who passed. Or the words of that song are like therapy. Or you look up at the sky and see clouds that look like snow angels. Or feathers and dimes start showing up in weird places.... When I go walking in my fairly new cookie-cutter suburban neighbourhood, I’ll sometimes ask for a sign to validate something. Very often, a feather that looks like it was plucked from a turkey or pterodactyl (i.e. not your typical bird from the ‘burbs) will show up in my path. One time it was on the hood of my car (I came across the 2 feathers pictured here within 12 hours of each other). When it comes to dimes (often referred to as dimes from Heaven), it’s not like you open your change purse and there’s grandpa. Instead, it’s going into Starbucks and finding a dime on your table and then opening the car door and a dime falls onto your foot (one day I pulled some socks from a drawer and a dime flew out and landed on my bed). Regardless of what your sign is, you’ll get goosebumps or butterflies or some other bodily reaction - or you’ll just know. It’s like that team of angelic energy is saying, Got the message - we’re on the case! and your acknowledgement of that response keeps the channel open. What signs have you encountered recently?
