Here it is ... Chamarel is a small village in the south-west of Mauritius with an international reputation thanks to the natural site of the #Terresdes7couleurs . In the middle of luxuriant vegetation exists a rare geological phenomenon: a bare colourful earth gradation. Brown, ochre, pink, orange, mauve, red and yellow are in layers, without ever mixing. It is in fact volcanic ash fallen during past eruptions. The iron and/or aluminum minerals that they contain oxidized under the effect of rain and sunlight to create these beautiful shades.
