Aiki-Mask of the day!

Tatami Studio Aikido + Yoga 22.01.2021

Spark of the day! Everyone is feeling the distress and anxiety of their reality. This year has been a tremendous challenge on everyone. With the pandemic, the shut downs, all the normal markers have disappeared. What has been left is a sense of void, a sense of mental fatigue and emotional uncertainty. Yes all your normal markers have disappeared, however you now have the opportunity to shift into your higher state of creating. Realize that you are in the midst of a mass tr...ansition, awakening to your truer self. When you lose all your familiar markers of your normal life, you have the opportunity to review your life and call forth a new reality. You have the opportunity to call on more light and awareness, which is new data and information for you to incorporate. You can step into your power. I invite you, to step outside that box and observe rather than react. It is the reaction that holds you hostage to the events. When you go into fear or anger you are creating more of the same in your future. Everything is energy and vibrations. When you are in a void and all that was familiar has disappeared, you are in a powerful place of creating; you are in a state of transformation. Honour this state. Think of when you’ve had a situation that was troubling, and the more you focused on the issue the more strange and troubling things began to happen to you. The more you focused on those events, the more your reality began to be very troubled. It is all vibrations. It is all resonance. It is important to remember you do in fact have the control of your vibrations by what you think and what you feel. Remember to ask yourself often, are these vibrations (energies in motion) attracting the reality I desire, or not. In every moment you can always chose differently for highest and best potential. Choose wisely my friends. Be the Spark!

Spark of the day! It is too easy to move through the day disconnected from our capacity as humans to be kind and caring. The holiday season encourages and rem...inds us to develop our ability for kindness by; - being kind to others, including animals - being kind to yourself - being kind to the planet We each need to continually work to practice kindness in all of these ways. It is really easy to get caught up in our stuff, ... be it anger, disappointment, frustration, worries that steal our sleep, or moments we wish we could do over-better or differently. We have conversations that play on a loop in our heads, each time hoping for a different outcome. We have bruises and scars and all kinds of wounds, some that have healed nicely and some hardened by scar tissue and some still gaping and raw. We all have lessons still to learn from the different paths we continue to walk. Even though we all have and know the things that can trigger us, we can still have the ability and capacity to be kind. It just takes a little more work when others are triggering us. Join me in my quest to be fluent in kindness ... Let's try to work on holding each other up as honest supporters and meaningful guides. Let's pick each other up instead of pushing each other down, or away. Let's hug genuinely from the heart. Let's be kind ... however and whatever that is for you. Let's feed our heart and soul by giving of ourselves. Let kindness and compassion guide us when dealing with others, with ourselves and with our planet. Mark Twain said, Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. Be the spark!

Spark of the day! We are all more alike then we are different. We are all inter connected, and we are all in this human thing together. My confidence comes f...rom knowing that there is a force, a power, a Source, greater then myself that I am a part of and is also a part of me. It is the force that binds us all. Children connect with each other with an openness and ease because they have not yet been taught differences. When you activate your own child's mind you feel the core goodness in others, when you feel that goodness in others you feel the same within yourself. This shared goodness is what unites us, it radiates through all of humanity. We are kindred spirits we are one. So as one, let's connect to that which is greater than us, and that in which we are all a part of. Be the spark!

Spark of the day! It is a consistent act of love towards oneself when you remember that when you judge others you really are not loving yourself. You are in t...ruth judging yourself. Where ever anyone else is on their journey or experiencing on their journey you have in one form or another, one time or place, been there too. Rather than bringing more judgement feel compassion first. Experience the experience and bring love to it. Be the spark!

It was a pleasure for me to read this article. It made me think of my aikido journey and where it has brought me in life. Through all the ups and downs, its been the one true constant that brought me back to myself, regardless of rank or style it was always within me. Ki Society Aikido was the first style of aikido I trained in for nearly 8 years, and now Iwama Aikido for over a decade. I am Blessed to know that these two great teachers were a part of it through the teachers Ive known and trained with, and those that I still train with today.

Spark of the day! International Day of Peace September 21st! Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN... General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. This year, it has been clearer than ever that we are not each others enemies. Rather, our common enemy is a tireless virus that threatens our health, security and very way of life. COVID-19 has thrown our world into turmoil and forcibly reminded us that what happens in one part of the planet can impact people everywhere. As we struggle to defeat COVID-19, your voice is more important than ever. In these difficult times of physical distancing, this International Day of Peace will be dedicated to fostering dialogue and collecting ideas. The world will be invited to unite and share thoughts on how to weather this storm, heal our planet and change it for the better. Even though we may not be able to stand next to each other, we can still dream together. The 2020 theme for the International Day of Peace is Shaping Peace Together. Celebrate the day by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic. Stand together with the UN against attempts to use the virus to promote discrimination or hatred. Join us so that we can shape peace together. https://www.un.org/en/observances/international-day-peace

Balancing the Chakras The manipura chakra, translates in Sanskrit as the Jewel in the city. Given its approximate location in the body, it is also called the navel centre or solar plexus. The physical influence of the manipura: ... This centre is responsible for the efficient action of the digestion the spleen, liver, pancreas and the stomach. This is where our digestive fires burn. So, if your find your digestion is sluggish and have a tendency to put on weight easily, then youre your digestive fires (called Agni in Sanskrit) needs lighting! Physical conditions to watch out for when the flame, burning in this centre is dim: Constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, blockages in the colon. The mental and emotional influence of the navel centre: This centre drives our will to act in the world. When in balance, it influences how well we express our confidence and a sense of self-worth. When this energy is free to express itself in our body, we will feel motivated and purposeful, excited and determined. Why it is important to find ways to re-boot this energy centre and attune to it? Do you feel lethargic and unmotivated? Do you find yourself getting angry, disillusioned and frustrated? Then, this centre needs unblocking. One thing is having dreams and goals in life, it is entirely another to have the necessary drive and motivation to achieve those dreams. Attuning to a balanced manipura will give us back our drive and excitement for life! #winnipeg #yoga #meditation #druyoga #classes #power #balance

Click the link to read the article: https://aikidojournal.com//remembering-morihiro-saito-sen/ Remembering Morihiro Saito Sensei, Part 1 Recently restored from the Archives... "Saito Sensei was a man who appeared on the aikido scene at just the right time in just the right circumstances. Imagine having the good fortune of meeting Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei at age 18 and spending over two decades learning and growing under the tutelage of such an inspired genius. Imagine being a key participant in the early growth and spread of aikido as an international phenomenon. Imagine, further, the deep sense of satisfaction Sensei must have felt at having thousands upon thousands of enthusiastic Japanese and foreign students coming to study at the Iwama Dojo and attending his seminars worldwide." - Stanley Pranin Written shortly after Saito Sensei's death, Stanley Pranin, in three parts, pays tribute and remembers Saito Sensei as he remembers him, covering his first meeting with Satio Sensei, Saito Sensei's first visit to California, and Pranin's experience moving to Japan.

https://aikidojournal.com/20//25/interview-with-bill-witt/ "Saito Sensei has three things that he always does during training. Tai No Henko, the basic blending exercise, then he does Kokyuho from the two-hand grab, and finally Kokyu dosa. He considers those to be the three basic exercises that you should always do. He always finishes the practice with Kokyudosa and begins the practice with Tai No Henko and Kokyuho. He believes also in balancing taijutsu training with training with the stick and sword, because, of course, a lot of aikido techniques were taken from the sword. Understanding how to swing the sword for instance should result in better technique." - BIll Witt.

In every moment, you and everyone else is always doing the best they possibly can. If anyone could do better -- they would. When anyone can do better they wil...l. While spiritual teachings can give greater focus and attention to heart-centered choices, they are not to be confused with rules used to punish yourself with. Instead of ridiculing yourself with unrealistic ideas of perfectionism, most moments of healing call for a deep level of self-forgiveness where you are able to truly forgive yourself for any misjudgments in perception and reaction by truly accepting yourself -- talents, flaws, and all. No one is designed to do this perfectly and it's for such an important reason. It is to guarantee that in en route to realizing how conscious, liberated, and heart-centered you already are, life creates moments to intentionally burst any bubble of perfectionism the spiritual ego tends to hide in. As the spiritual ego gets down on itself for not "nailing it", you are able to embrace such a part within you, allowing your love to further set free the aspect of self who only knows how to be rewarded with praise, honor, and accolade in exchange for doing something "right". Let your journey be insightful, illuminating, clarifying, and sometimes, as messy as its meant to be. No matter the roads traveled and the choices made, everything is made right in the end. See more

Spark of the day! September surely is bringing the winds of change into our awareness to assist in the falling away of that which no longer serves the greater... good of our evolution. Because September is the ninth month, with the number nine representing phases of completion, now is the perfect time to take inventory of your life and decide which things no longer serve the newest version of your awakening from within. Now is the time to start planting seeds for how your life in an ascended reality can look and feel. Which relationships will deepen as you evolve? Which partnerships have reached a point of completion? Which 'old' patterns have been established in your life, not to be used to beat yourself up or place yourself under a microscope of observation, but created to help you reclaim more of your unlimited power the moment you gratefully say farewell? With this month representing the theme of completion, the wisdom of September asks you to consider: What are you ready to complete this month, so to cut karmic chords that untether you from the distractions of personal drama, inner turmoil, or unresolved pain? What positive changes are you willing to invite into your reality, so to replace self-destructive habits with moments of greater inner-nurturing and self-care? Which conversations, no matter how difficult or daunting they seem to be, need to happen so you can move forward with less weight on your shoulders and heaviness in your heart? I honour all the decisions your gut and guides urge you to choose, at whatever rate of speed is most supportive to your heart. There is no doorway of opportunity leaving you behind and theres no way for you to ever get this 'wrong'. Be the Spark!

We have heard some sad news today. Takano Sensei an Aikido Sensei passed away Aug 31, to cancer. Both Ama and I met him when were in Japan. Mark Larson Sensei introduced us to him (Ama) 2015 and myself in 2019. He was very gentle and kind man. A man of peace, love and light, and will be missed for all that he has brought to this world. ... He had introduced us to peace pole project, May Peace Prevail on Earth something that was very dear to him. Being advocates for peace ourselves, he inspired us to become members of the a peace pole project and we now have a peace pole in our dojo since October 2019. Many blessings, love and light to you where ever you may be kind Sensei and sending your loved ones much love during this difficult time. Spark of the day! So many people manage to find happiness & inner peace through the most turbulent and upsetting moments of their lives by making use of their... internal resourcesby finding happiness within rather than in external sources. The key to happiness, or in other words that of finding true inner happiness, is by finding your inner peace, that center of calm and inner knowing which is the real source of your being, rather than those mental projections or society's view of what happiness is. There are many pathways to find your inner peace for me the greatest path has been acceptance. To let go of expectations, inner struggle and frustrations when things dont turn out exactly the way you want them. Acceptance is an extremely powerful tool to finding inner happiness and it shouldnt be confused with resignation or passiveness. We often fail to understand the power of acceptance because it comes from the heart not the mind. Its power in fact comes from transcending the resist and restless mind which is often the source of our anxieties, stress and inner conflict. Acceptance is when we drop all our mental beliefs of what should be, and only then can we become conscious that there is another life outside this madnessof trying to acquire one goal after the other in the wrong belief that there is an ultimate goal called happiness somewhere on the finish line. Ask yourself how much of whats going on in your life do you accept? Are you constantly feeling you should be at some other point in your life? Or do you somehow feel at peace with all aspects of your life and make use of them with all their limitations? Be the spark!

According to a 19th-century legend, the Truth and the Lie meet one day. The Lie says to the Truth: "It's a marvelous day today"! The Truth looks up to the skies... and sighs, for the day was really beautiful. They spend a lot of time together, ultimately arriving beside a well. The Lie tells the Truth: "The water is very nice, let's take a bath together!" The Truth, once again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it indeed is very nice. They undress and start bathing. Suddenly, the Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of the Truth, and runs away. The furious Truth comes out of the well and runs everywhere to find the Lie and to get her clothes back. The World, seeing the Truth naked, turns its gaze away, with contempt and rage. The poor Truth returns to the well and disappears forever, hiding therein, its shame. Since then, the Lie travels around the world, dressed as the Truth, satisfying the needs of society, because, the World, in any case, harbors no wish at all to meet the naked Truth. The world-famous painting- "The Truth coming out of the well" Jean-Léon Gérôme, 1896.

Spark of the day! Compassion can change your experience and in can also change the world. Compassion is the key to recognizing and honouring what links us to...gether, it's the knowing that because we are all human that really we are more alike than we are different. When we judge another human being we deny the connection that ties us all. We are all human beings having an experience, so who are we to say that whatever another person is doing or saying, is right or wrong, it just is. What they do might be exactly the thing they need for personal growth and evolution. When we allow the experience to unfold and when we reframe from judgement and use compassion, you activate your own grace. You become a conduit for peace, harmony, understanding and happiness. From a place of gratitude our hearts soften, compassion becomes a natural way of being. Through our compassion and connection with others we generate a collective strength that creates miracles for us and and our world. Make space in your heart for compassion, see everyone and yourself without judgement and be kindness in action. Be the spark!
